I have some YLI also but it's very fine and I prefer the TIRE thread. I'm hand piecing my GFG with silk and the stitches don't show.
I'm also missing RIM again this year. It always is on a weekend that has scheduling conflicts for me and I can't get there. Maybe one day we both can attend and meet IRL.CONNIE Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11524592276175272170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-15626903217635965292007-06-04T16:58:00.000-07:002007-06-04T16:58:00.000-07:00I do a lot of applique work, and often on miniatur...I do a lot of applique work, and often on miniatures, and I like silk best of all. If I can't get silk I use Mettler Silk Finish. My least favourite is Gutermann (sp) cotton as it seems to tangle more.
Hope this helps.
*hugs*
Tazzie
:-)Tazziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11872390174069150617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-43879231480153275882007-06-04T10:02:00.000-07:002007-06-04T10:02:00.000-07:00I love YLI silk thread for hand applique. I have a nice selection of colors I bought when my LQS went out of business a few years ago so can usually find a color that will work.Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03812156057009704007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-48116150022562402132007-06-04T08:51:00.000-07:002007-06-04T08:51:00.000-07:00I like mettler.I did not like silk - it did not "h...I like mettler.

I did not like silk - it did not "hold" my applique pieces - I was always tuggiong to keep it taught to the background....The Calico Cathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06319271181930512880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-5191478969113307072007-06-03T12:13:00.000-07:002007-06-03T12:13:00.000-07:00Well, this is a good question! But when I've used all that up I'm switching to DMC machine embroidery thread. I have collected all the colors available over the last several years, and have loved it the little bit I've used it. It is really hard to find.Pattihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07125491177774966237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-44435932128127237572007-06-02T14:34:00.000-07:002007-06-02T14:34:00.000-07:00p.s. When I do use silk, though, I like YLI. I tried another brand--can't tell you which it was because I don't remember--and it broke quite a lot.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05365964667029948020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-39197759433481564652007-06-01T12:12:00.000-07:002007-06-01T12:12:00.000-07:00I use (are you sitting?) polyester for needleturn....I use (are you sitting?) polyester for needleturn.
