For what it's worth, your blog was one of the first I ever followed (back when it was called stalking instead of "following"--LOL!). And although my blog reading has been cut WAAAY back, yours is still one of the first blogs I read when I have time to blog surf a bit. I think you have a busy and demanding job and probably not as much time to do "bloggable" things as you'd like, so the content is what it is. I say write about what you want. It's a blog, not an autobiography.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05365964667029948020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-7221561702145489752011-01-23T17:17:10.811-08:002011-01-23T17:17:10.811-08:00Surprise, surprise, "ANONYMOUS," your co...Surprise, surprise, "ANONYMOUS," your comment will remain. Very "brave" of you not to sign your name nor include your contact information. But contrary to your comment, my blog post was not defensive. I did not think she was talking about me as she doesn't know me. I was simply making the point that being mean-spirited to those who do things differently, those who might have other things come up that are more important than sewing, sad things, life and death matters, shouldn't be judged and made fun of the way she did. I'm sure your friend appreciate your input, for coming to her defense, and for helping her crawl out of the uncomfortable position in which she found herself. Your comment will remain - to show others just how quickly hatefulness spreads among unhappy people. I hope you feel better now that you've had your say.Vickyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08230311970559999653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-47544420631078785662011-01-23T10:05:00.507-08:002011-01-23T10:05:00.507-08:00I can think of about a half dozen blogs off the to...I can think of about a half dozen blogs off the top of my head that Nicole could have been referring to, but how interesting that you're the one who picked themselves out of the lineup. You're the first one I'd think of too after reading that.

Since you asked, I quit reading your blog months ago, because after every post I read, I'd ask myself, does this woman ever sew anything? Unlike Nicole however, I actually prefer a blog that sticks mostly to quilting (and not just buying fabric). That's what *I* like. I'm really not interested in shopping trips to Walmart or vacations to Alaska or cute stories about the family pet or whatever.

It would have been so easy for you to have simply ignored what Nicole wrote and chalked it up to personal preference, but you chose to make a political correctness issue about it, and it was so unnecessary. Franky, you're the only one who sounds defensive here.

With the thousands of blogs out there to read, there is something for everyone, and no one blog is going to please everyone, including yours. So why bother?

Now let's see if you publish this along with the other 92 slobbering comments you got.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-3863965958133586192011-01-20T22:55:45.659-08:002011-01-20T22:55:45.659-08:00I like your blog. Honestly, I teach 3rd grade and when I get home I cook dinner and then sit on the couch till bedtime. I'm so tired I can't even think about walking upstairs to sew and that makes me SO SAD. I'm not doing what I want to do. I'm REALLY hoping you'll tell us in a blog post how you manage to get so much done! Please tell us so we can do it too, Vicki! You love sharing what fabric/kits/patterns you bought.
3. Even though you have been through some of life's trails you remain cheerful and look on the positive side of life.
4. Your love for Penny and your family comes through your writing loud and clear.
5. You are enthusiastic about quilting and stitching even though you are a busy lady and don't have much time (I can relate, boy can I relate).
6. I chuckle when I read about your recent purchases and your Sunday stash totals as I am also a collector. :-)
7. I smile when I read your blog.
:-)

It's your blog. Write what you want when you want as you are writing for yourself.

We are here as guests and honestly? It shows that you enjoy connecting with whoever is out there following your blog. I think that you have a nice mix of quilting and personal - just enough really. I think many bloggers (quilters or otherwise) share too much - not to be paranoid necessarily, but one should be careful concerning how much information they put out in the public arena. You share enough that we can get to know your personality, without oversharing. Concerning fabric purchases, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a touch jealous! Being in a spot where I can't really jusitify purchasing even a couple charm packs, it can be hard to see some of the bloggers making huge purchases. But I know that when I'm feeling a little down about things, maybe I just don't visit those blogs just then. It's no one else's fault that money is tight - and what you purchase is your own business and it is fun to see all the wonderful things that land on your doorstep. I know this is getting long, but I read both your blog and the other in question regularly and the other in question also used to be one that featured a very high level of purchasing, so I'm not entirely sure where that paticular criticism is coming from. At the end of it, I concur with the majority here that if you want to blog, talk about what makes you happy. You come across as very genuine - and that more than anything else is likely why you have many followers. The cute dog certainly doesn't hurt either! :)Abbybethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07573176261034071914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-20071973652580665592011-01-17T03:50:03.011-08:002011-01-17T03:50:03.011-08:00I understand you cannot blog about everything that...I understand you cannot blog about everything that is going on in your life. Thank you for coming on and leaving a co...Nichole,

Thank you for coming on and leaving a comment. Although I feel your comment is defensive, I accept your apology on behalf of all those you offended.

I read your blog I think for the first time yesterday. I found it to be quite good, and kept reading down your posts until I got to that one. I did not say that that post was directed at me, but I will say it was extremely mean-spirited, and not the sort of blog I want to continue to read or a blogger with whom I would like to associate or know better. For that reason, I did not leave any comments or attempt to contact you. I commented here on my turf in very general terms because I was astounded that such an obviously talented quilter would take to task so scathingly others who do things differently than she.

What I have thought about, and what I specifically asked my readers, was for input as to any changes they would like to see in my blog. I received the information I wanted through their comments.

Since we will not be communicating any further, I wish you only the best for the future.Vickyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08230311970559999653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-34028699572797668802011-01-15T13:29:02.320-08:002011-01-15T13:29:02.320-08:00I enjoy your blog! I like to see what all you get ...I enjoy your blog! I like to see what all you get and the variety. I do wish that you had the time to do more sewing, but as I know from experience, it doesn't always work out that way.

It makes me wonder though... I thought I know you fairly well for being blog friends, but is there other stuff going on that I don't know about??

I know that there are things that I don't share on my blog. Work stuff that drives me nuts that I don't want to share in case work people read my blog. Nasty experiences with bloggers that I mistook as genuinely nice people but who now seem to still haunt me at ridiculous times. Family crap that goes on, but I can't talk about because it might hurt someone's feelings.

So I think that every blogger has a fine line between what they can and can't share. But the bottom line is THIS is YOUR blog. You should share what you want when you want to. And if people don't like that, no one is forcing them to visit your blog.

And fortunately, you can't keep me away!! :-DDarling Jill Quiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11126420789726965856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-73792193047559157942011-01-15T12:54:37.638-08:002011-01-15T12:54:37.638-08:00Hello Vicki. Nicole here. Just to keep it real,...Hello Vicki. Nicole here. Just to keep it real, I thought I would respond directly to your comment regarding my blog post on Dec. 16, on the subject of the type of blog readers enjoy. My post was not aimed at you or your blog and if you saw yourself in my description of the type of blog I do not care for, I apologize. I do enjoy blogs that allow me to get to know the writer a bit, and contain content that goes beyond a single topic. In particular, I find blogs whose subject matter is primarily concerned with what the writer has purchased tedious and one dimensional. Just to set the record straight, I did not express an opinion of bloggers who do give-aways. You appear to have pulled that out of thin air. Also, in response to your remark about the comments to my post of Dec. 16 being closed, I have always had Typepad set up to close comments after a post is two weeks old. That has nothing at all to do with you and is not a recent development. Removing your link from my sidebar was something that I did do today after reflecting on what one of your commenters said about not reading a blog if the content was not to one’s taste. That being said, I believe that each of us has the right to express our opinions freely and share what we like about our lives and interests. It makes life more interesting to have individuals in the world who are not all the same. Readers have the freedom to read what interests them and skip what does not. I hope you will continue to post on the subjects that are close to your heart and not let my opinion or that of anyone else influence you.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09440749267288259866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22312109.post-69977495292192339652011-01-15T12:32:58.442-08:002011-01-15T12:32:58.442-08:00Vicky
