Does anyone still make New Year's Resolutions? I try to make them, even going so far as writing them down sometimes, but by the end of the first week I've totally forgotten that list.
I'd like to hear your resolutions this year. Maybe you will spur me on to do something differently. I hope to have some quilty time this year and I plan to make the most of it.
So with that, I've made my list. It's short. It's concise. It's do-able.
1. Make a quilt!!
Seriously, though -- wait, I WAS serious! -- blogging weekly is also on my to-do list for 2012. It's been a crazy year with all that's gone on in my little world. I need to get out of my box and go back to doing fun things! I figure if I commit to blogging more, then I'll have to sew more to have something to blog about!!!!!
But back to the purpose of this post:
Leave your comment to be entered in the drawing for a $50 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop.
Let's have the drawing on Saturday 12/31/11 at 8:00 a.m. If you're the winner, you can place your order before January 1st and not mess up your resolution to buy less fabric in 2012!! (I have a devious mind, don't I?) And if you're stash building, what a great way to start off the year!!
Good luck to everyone.
Oh, one more thing. I repeat every year what Mom used to tell me every New Year's Eve --------
What you do on New Year's Day, you do for the rest of the year!
I plan on stitching!!

I want to nake and complete 7 quilts this year!!!
I want to finish the quilts that I've got almost done!!!!!!
I like your mother's saying, "What you do on New Year's Day, you do for the rest of the year!" I'll try to work in some quilting after I put away all the Christmas decorations. And now that I think about it, I better exercise, eat healthy, get enough sleep...hmm, what other good habits do I need to work on?
Lose weight (and not find it again) and work to diminish my ufos and other stash are my perpetual resolutions.
I'm not a resolution person, but I am a goal setter, and each month I do come up with a little plan of what I want to accomplish and what obligations I have to honor, such as bee blocks. But I don't let my list rule me. If inspiration hits, I believe in following where ever it leads!
I began a UFO challenge on my blog so I can finish up the piles and piles of UFOs I have here at home!
I would like to cut my UFO list in half! I think I better start on the 1st too. Happy New Year!
I plan on having fun!!!!!
I will make sure I am stitching or dyeing New Year's Eve and New Year's Day just to make sure! I hope your life gets back to normal in 2012.
My resolutions are to really bust some stash in 2012. I also want to donate more quilts to charity projects (and I've signed up for 4 projects for Wrapped In Hope so I'm committed to at least that many).
I also want to learn to use the quilting machine that my DH purchased almost 3 years ago -- I've done 2 quilts on it and would like to try pantographs instead of staying with the patternboards.
More quilting will be my goal, too.
I have a couple UFOs; not too many, but will have to make decisions on those. I hope to be more particular on buying fabric....like maybe half yards instead of whole yards? Wonder how long that one will last. hehehe
I am going to make some donation quilts as well as all the other stuff. : )
My resolve is to buy less fabric. I would love the chance to win some! Thanks for the contest.
To my usual resolutions to finish more ufo's, think carefully before buying more fabric and patterns, lose 10 pounds, etc., I'm adding a new one. I retired this year and I don't want to fritter away the time but to use it wisely and enjoy the time caregiving my elderly Mom and doing the things I longed to do but couldn't while working those 40 years.
I like your mother's saying, good thing I have a 2012 NYD Mystery quilt ready to go! lol Mine is to keep up with Judy's UFO Challenge. Resolutions should be to do something fun!
I've heard that saying as well. This year I plan to make sure I do some stitching and more stitching on New Year's Day. My one and only resolution last year was to make sure I stitched 15 minutes a day. Didn't happen! Going to try again and would like to finish up lots of quilts that just need quilted and bound.
I want to sew. With a (now) 14 month old I haven't been able to sit and sew in months.
My goal for this year is not to buy less fabric but to buy more thoughtfully. I'm an impulse buyer when it comes to fabric. If i love it, i want it. This year if it's not something I know I can use I am not going to buy it...fingers crossed.
My goals for this year are to lose 20 lbs by August and finish up at least two of my UFOs. I'm not one for making resolutions, but these two are very important to me at this time! Happy New Year!
I love your Mom's saying! and I LOVE your resolutions, I hope you do blog more often! and I do HOPE you have more time to sew this year. You have had tough year as I always say look forward and make a plan to make it happen!
Hire a cleaning service too!
Happy New Year !
Kathie
Love your Mom's saying! I'll be in the sewing room that day too!
As for my resolutions, I am determined to finish all my WIPs and UFOs before I start anything new. So far so good on that as I dug them all out and organized them as soon as the last Christmas gift was done.
Second resolution and I really mean it this year! Lose the first 50 pounds that I need to lose and then some more if I can manage it before the year is over. No more excuses!
I sure hope that you keep up with that blogging resolution. It will be nice to hear more from you this coming year.
Happy, Happy Holidays my dear Vicky! I've been a firm believer in your mom's saying for many years. I don't any resolutions because I just set myself up for failure - LOL In 2012 I'm hoping to spend more time on handwork.
I've won in the past, Vicky so please don't enter me in your drawing. Awesome giveaway.
I want to blog more this year too. I'm hoping it will help with my goal of finishing my UFOs and stash busting! Happy New Year to you! I look forward to seeing what you are up to in 2012!
I plan to keep learning new sewing things! Make more quilts and attempt some dressmaking! I like your mums saying, I haven't heard it before... best make sure I'm not in bed all day Sunday then! Thanks for the giveaway!
My New years resolution..... clean and try to organize the chaos of my sewing room.
Now that I have learned to use the long arm quilting machine at my LQS, I plan to finish several quilts!

Always quilting is the top of the resolution list but next year I'm going to do a 1/2 marathon walk for my nephew who had a traumatic brain injury this past year. My training for this is my most important resolution so I can do this! Best wishes for a very happy 2012 with lots of blogging and quilting.
Mary
My resolution is to replace our 20+ year old smoke alarm. I want to do it in January!!!!
I'm working on cleaning up UFO's, fabric purchases must have an immediate purpose and I bought new golf shoes at Christmas, now I have no excuses to not get out and swing the golf clubs this summer.
Happy New Year to you!
Well, on New Year's Day I eat pork and sauerkraut :) and this year I will STITCH, too :) and my resolution is to get my birthday calendar organized (this week!) and send birthday cards to friends and family this year!
Well, to honor you, I bought 638 yards of fabric this year (I started keeping track in March) I did use 300 yards but there was no real dent made in what is in this room - organized by color in open wood shelves lest you think I'm a hoarder. I'll resolve to buy less than half of the fabric in 2012 that I bought in 2011. Unless my friends force me to go to one of those 50% off everything sales again. (love your blog!)
LOVE YOUR MOM'S SAYING!
I WANT TO PRACTICE MY FREE MOTION+GET BETTER AT DOING IT!
THANKS FOR SHARING THIS SPECIAL GIVEAWAY-I APPRECIATE A CHANCE TO WIN SOME FABRIC $$ !
If that is the case, I am going to be stitching too!! :-) I hope to **finish projects** and deplete stash in 2012~ so I can buy more. :-) LOL I would love to say start on next year's Christmas gifts so I give more hand made, but I know me too well to say anything like that! I do want to get and stay(!) more organized!
Thank you for the fun!
Make a quilt. You crack me up! I'm going to start a new project every month. Something small, probably, but maybe a few quilts too. I should take all my money out of the bank and roll in it on NYE. Do you think that will make a good start for 2012?! Happy New Year and thanks for the giveaway :)
I want to walk more and make a string quilt. But first I have 3 projects to finish. Thanks for the giveaway. !!!! And Happy New Year
I don't make resolutions because I know I never keep them. I am just going to sew up a storm, that's it! I have this nice fancy sewing machine I need to get my money's worth out of! LOL
I don't really like to make new year resolutions, cause I never follow them, then feel guilty. I just want to finish some projects, eat healthier, and hopefully lose some weight in 2012. Thanks for the chance to win.
To finish more quilts than I start, which is about as farfetched as my usual resolutions to lose weight and exercise more LOL! At least this is what I'll try to do. Best wishes to you!
I always make way too many resolutions and then never keep any of them! My resolutions this year are to drink less soda, buy less fabric and finish more quilts, especially the UFOs I've already created. Happy New Year!!
I will find time for stitching new years day and they as much as I can the rest of the year! happy new year!
I want to sell my house in 2012 and move. I just don't know where to move to yet.
This year I want to finish at least 3 of my UFO's. I haven't decided which yet. I also plan on not starting anything new in the way of BOMs or quilt alongs until some of my projects and current BOMs are done. Big plans! Just hope I can keep to them! :)
Sandy A
Good Resolution Vicky. I too want to do more sewing in 2012 so I better heed your Mom's advice and take a few stitches on New Years Day. I also like your way of thinking with buying something on New Years Eve so you can truly say you are buying less in 2012. Happy New Year to you and to Penny.
I want to finish some of the projects that I have started.
fmoore11589@comcast.net
I want to finish more projects than I start, so that I can finally make some headway with my UFO pile--I have blocks from 3 bees waiting to be made into quilts!
i want to complete 12 ufos and have fewer added to the pile. i think quilts are like shiny new objects, once i see them i want to make them thus always increasing the ufo or wip pile
I like that saying, I plan to do some quilting and stitching on New Years Day. I'd like to have more finishes this year, some things are so close to being done it's crazy.
Lose weight (20+ pounds) and use the stash! Oh, and work on my free-motion quilting. I really enjoy it, but need to get beyond stippling and looping! Happy New Year, Vicky!
Happy New Year's to you and Penny! Wishing you lots and lots of quilting time. I make "goals" not resolutions. This year my goal is to "stretch" myself. It might be to stretch and reach out to difficult family members. Stretch my sewing skills by embracing a difficult technique. Ok. So I have to start on Sunday. I'll start that book for my book club that it out of my comfort "read". Have a fabulous holiday!
I'm not typically a resolution maker. But sewing more is definitely something I'd like to work on.
My goal is to finish some quilts so I have some on hand to donate when a need arises. I have lots of tops done but not quilted and always wish I could have them ready when someone needs one. I am going to work on my on-going projects this year more than starting new things.
My biggest goal is to become and remain cancer-free in 2012. Wish me luck! And of course, while I'm going through the rest of my treatment, I plan on stitching and planning. :)
I need to make a definite sewing time for each day to get all my projects moving forward. Thanks for your blog. Kathie L in Allentown
I hope to finish some quilts to and maybe my big stitching piece.
I'm resolving to complete one UFO a month this year. Have a Happy New Year! :o)
My resolution is to sew 15 minutes a day. That way, not only will I use some of my stash, but I may finish some of the many UFO's that I have.
I love the saying! My resolution is to complete projects! Not just sewing but all my hobbies (scrapbooking and stamping too)!!
Oh, I hope you do blog more! Have missed you! I hope you had a nice Christmas! My quilty resolution is just to use more stash! :)
I want to find more time to quilt again....I didn't get much quilting done this year with having an infant in the house but hoping to change that in the new year :)
I agree with your Mom and plan on spending New Years Day stitching. As for my resolutions - this sums up my philosphy!
http://www.gocomics.com/garfield/2011/12/28
I really want to balance my work life and my 'after work life", and that will include some healthier habits concerning my nutrition. Have started already and hope to follow it thru. Love your mom's saying - and hope it will work. Thanks so much for your giveaway - and looking forward for your weekly blog posts!!
I wanted to do something fun -- like 12 quilts in 2012, but I think that might be a huge stretch. So, since it's my 10th anniversary year, I am going to have 10 finishes in 2012.
Gratitudes... thinking of 5 a day...Writing them down somewhere, so if and When the going gets tough, I'll have them to fall back on....oh and Quilting-- that's a given....
Not joking...I want to ADD to my stash. Quilting is more enjoyable when you have a stash.
I plan on longarm quilting & binding 3 UFO tops I still have to do. Finish the top I started yesterday, quilt and bind (for grand niece due in Jan). Finish the top for us that I started last summer, quilt & bind. Put the last border on a top I made last year, quilt and bind (for DIL). Then, I will be ready to start something new! That is always fresh and exciting!
Then - need to get rid of the last 20 lbs. I need to lose. Get more exercise.
It is not so much a resolution, but a goal I have set for myself. I don't always accomplish all of them but I put a good dent in them every year. That keeps me content. Someone always pops up needing a quilt and it always ends up going to the top of the list!
My NYR is to enjoy and savor the moment!
Happy New Year to you and Penny! I hope things calm down for you in 2012. My resolution is to keep off the 32 lbs that I have lost since June and take better care of myself all around. I also have several U.F.O.s that I'd love to finish. Maybe if I put them down on paper and hang the list in my sewing room I won't forget about them :-)

I hope your goals get met this year! What a difficult couple of years it has been for you--good thing you have Penny to light up your life.
My goal for 2012 is to find some people to quilt with. Not being much of a joiner, not having a local guild, and being someone working two jobs, this may be very difficult. But I so enjoy sewing with others when I get the chance!
I like what Staci said about setting goals....maybe that will be my resolution!!! Because for many years I've had the same resolution---finish my UFO's. Heavy sigh, it hasn't been happening....Nini vicenza74@gmail.com
Last year I didn't write down my quilt goals and I feel like I didn't get much done. So I have already written my list of 10 quilts to make and 2 to bind. I am starting the binding on one today so if I finish by tomorrow night I'll be waaayyyy ahead of the game! Happy New Year Vicky and Penny. I hope for a quieter year in your world.
I would love to finish 2 quilts I have started and begin a few more. Fan4may at aol dot com
Have more fun which includes stitching!!
I would love to finish the quilt I started in 2011 and find more time in 2012 to stitch. Thanks for the chance at your generous giveaway.
I want to finish handquilting my son's DWR, finish appliquing my Baltimore Liberty and start a butterfly applique quilt for my daughter. I guess if I get those done I won't have time for much else! I do plan to make a quilt for a great nephew in there before his first birthday in October!
Im getting back into my workout routine....I did great for 6 months and then Thanksgiving came around...and I've only worked out 4 times since then.
After I shower, I will sit down at my sewing machine and piece some blocks....
Happy New Year! I hope 2012 is magical and easy for you! I started going to the gym in June - and one of my "resolutions" is to continue it as long as my body holds out! I also hope to take more "me" time this year - I've recently learned about saying "no, I"m sorry, I can't" instead of feeling compelled to give a reason! Oh - and I HAVE to use up some of my fabric stash - but no specific goals there - wouldn't want to have to limit myself!
I want to buy less fabric (with the house on the market, I really should fulfill this one!), and finishing some quilts I've been thinking about for a few years but have always pushed to the back burner for more urgent projects!
My main resolution this year is to finish my UFOs. I have a few that are THIS close to being done, but I keep putting them off. I'm not going to start anything new (hopefully) until they are done!
My resolution for 2012 quilting is to work on my machine quilting skills. Hmmmmmmmm..... same as last year!
My plans for the year include completing (or at least making significant progress) on long term projects (not quilting related) and to give myself more creative time.
Good luck sewing again next year. I work in accounting too, and I know when big projects come up my personal life disappears.
Oh, you know, all the usuals... loose weight, sew more, spend more time with my family and less on the computer. The difference is that the end of my resolution timeline is going to be June 1 since we are moving again this summer and all bets are off during a move!
I plan on doing some sewing! More than I did this year would be great!
I want to use up at least 50 yards from my stash, and I don't want to leave any UFOs.
Mary O'Neil
I plan on sewing some more and completing my UFO's
Happy New Year Vicky & Penny
Hugs,

Yoga! I need exercise and have committed to yoga twice a week and no more work after hours to allow for quilting!
LauraT
A New Year's resolution?
I want to end 2012 with less UFO's than I started!
I want to make an applique quilt, finish two other quilts and several smaller projects. Exercise regular, work on and improve health issues.
new years resolution is to make more donation quilts and make a little quilt a month and share the pattern on my blog. I also want to learn how to machine quilt and do more hand quilting. I am more of a goal oriented person then a resolution person....
The biggest goal I have to is eat healthier and walk more then just a few days a week.
Happy New Year!
Kathie who forgot to write her resolutions on her first post!
I plan to finish some (and I have quite a few!) of my UFO's and three babyquilts for already born ones before they need bigger quilts.New Years Day I intend to spend several hours in my sewingroom. Lose weight is also on my list, it's a neverending battle! louise.sjodin.short@telia.com
I want to learn to free-motion quilt on my sewing machine this year--not quite a resolution, but a goal. Happy New Year!
I want to be more organized this year---finish up my UFOs and finish up new quilts in a timely manner (meaning, get those tops quilted as soon as they're made--LOL!)
And, I want to be brave and make a sweater this year---that'll be a first! Eve in GA
was not sure if this was 8AM CA time or 8AM NY time, so I may be in under the wire? Resolution is to conquer FMQ.
I want to finish most of the quilts that I started! That's about twenty or so!
Am I too late?
My resolution is to finish some UFOs!
I plan to learn to freemotion quilt some of my little projects. dorthac@aol.com
Well, I hope to sew on a more regular basis AND I am going to get the Wii back out and try and get my butt moving. How's that?
No Resolutions here. They only get broken! But I do have a list of Want To's. I'd list them here but.... I'd use too much space so I'll just say that ONE goal is to spend more time in my sewing room doing everything there is to do in there.
Happy New Year!!
I stopped making resolutions a few years ago, they were always the same and I never accomplished them, which left me feeling like a failure. I do have some plans...cook at home more often, save all of my change for a downpayment on a place in the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania, find a little more ME time to sew and knit...all things I want to do, but will not feel like a failure if I do them! Wishing you a wonderful 2012!
My goal is to use my Go! cutter for a project in 2012. I got it LAST year (2010) for xmas and I still haven't used it, except to try it out. On the non-quilting front, my goal is to get a passport this coming year. Then maybe 2013's goal will be to travel! Thanks as always for having the giveaway!
I want to get into my sewing room and clean it so I can quilt.
Happy New Year to you!!!
Clare
