Final Christmas Mini Give-Away

The last give-away for 2012!

In the spirit of Christmas, in your comment tell us the most exciting gift you're GIVING this year!

Mine is easy.  I made two quilts for gifts.  Lots of time and love went in those.  Still stitching the binding on the second one, but I can do it!!

A drawing for a $50.00 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop will be held on Friday about midday.  Penny insists on doing it then.  She wants the winner to be able to poke some buttons and buy a gift for herself (or himself)  this Christmas!  She's sweet like that!!

I hope everyone has enjoyed the mini give-aways.  Perhaps the new year will see more of those!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, I had to laugh at myself.  This morning I typed  "Final Mini Christmas Give-Away."  Nothing "mini" about Christmas.  Switched around the post title to read better!!!
Oooh, Penny, over here babe. Pick me! Pick me!
I have been stuck on my whirlygig quilt since I discovered I had cut it all wrong.Grrr. I will have to post about my misadventures where all the blades are wonky because it does matter which way you cut the fabric.
May next year be filled with lots of project finishes for you (and for me too )
Merry Christmas
Diane
I would love to win a gift cert to FQS! My most exciting gift to give this year is to my sister. It's a shaker style workbox made out of cherry with a purpleheart handle. My sister has always liked purple and this is really purple. I mailed it early and had my brother in law open the package to make sure it hadn't been damaged. He said it was beautiful.
I'm quite excited to gift my mom this Christmas with a quilted wall hanging and a quilted pillow for her bed. I made both to match the Amish quilt that she bought last spring in Pennsylvania. I don't think she has a clue that I've made them. Hope she likes them!
The gift I'm most excited about giving is a Disney surprise for my daughter. Not saying what, just in case! She's not expecting it at all, so it should be fun! Love these giveaways!
The most fun gifts I will be giving this year are to my new grandson. He is 6 months old and I waited a long time to have a grandchild of m own. I made him a quilt when he was born so he doesn't need one yet.
I have been on a knitting binge! I have knitted FIFTEEN yes, 15 ruffled scarves for gifts since Thanksgiving. Now to knit one for me!
karen @ badlandsquilts said...
Sadly I didn't make any gifts this year (though I may try for some kid PJ pants on christmas eve after we get back from relatives?)... so probably a purse that I bought for my mom as she's had a tough time finding one in the rural area she lives in. Merry Christmas!
Doodlebug Gail said...
The most exciting gift I'm giving for Christmas this year has already been given. I have a young customer at work who is going through a tough time right now. She has a 3 month old baby boy so I put together a bag of cute baby clothes and made a plaid flannel quilt for him. The plaids were blue/green and red flannel, warm, snuggly and perfect for a little boy.
Merry Christmas to both you and Penny!
This season has been filled with handmade presents. My favorite was the quilted checkerboard I gave our son yesterday to celebrate the anniversary of his adoption. He's taken it to school each day since to play his friends.
I get so excited about everything I am giving but I do think the baking-themed stockings for my daughters and daughter-in-law will be happily received by them (and their husbands!)
I am excited about 2 things -- first is the pack of Star Wars Angry Birds that's for my son. They're his favorite. Second is a birthday calendar for my MIL, who can't ever remember birthdays. Not even for her own children!
Oh Penny~ pleeease pick me! I would love to do some button pushing! I participated in Darlene and Cheryl's monthly Christmas sewing this year and am so happy I did! I had a bunch of handmade gifts to send out. The 'specialist' one though is a messenger bag for my DD~ she is going to flip over it! :-) Thanks for the fun giveaway!
Sally said...
Vicky, first I want to thank you for doing this lovely give-away! You are such a generous person!
Second, I am giving my daughter-in-law a Silhouette machine for Christmas....this is something she has coveted for a long time and since she is the most amazing woman, wife and mother, she deserves it!
Merry Christmas to you and to Penny.
I'm giving my sister socks made from merino wool and possum fur. It will definitely be the most talked about gift. Penny, if you pick me, I'll send you treats! ;)
I always love giving gifts to my daughter. She still believes in all the magic and just soaks it up. She'll be getting some american girl accessories she's been eyeing for Months! Thanks for the chance to win a FQS GC! Awesome!
I am finishing up a quilt for my husband that I started almost 4 years ago! That will be my favorite gift to give this year. He is going to be so surprised that I finished it. I think he gave up hope a long time ago! Thanks for the chance to win!
My daughter has a friend with a teen-age daughter who fell on hard times and has had a rough year. I anonymously paid their rent for December. It's not really a gift per see but got me in the Christmas spirit and made me think of other ways to surprise people without them knowing where it came from. It's fun to do little things for friends and strangers without them knowing who did it!
I will be giving a new laptop to my son. In the past he has gotten my hubby's hand-me down (my daughter got mine). A few months ago, his bit the dust and he has had to share his sister's for homework. We found a really good "black frday deal" that my hubby ventured out for. It is much more than we normally spend for a gift, so I cant wait to see his face...
We gave my brother and sister in law a package from Omaha steaks. What made it so exciting was how THRILLED they were about it! Seriously, I have never seen someone so excited about meat.
Becky (My Fabric Obsession) said...
Not too many exciting gifts that stand out. Mostly toys for the kids. As usual, the box will probably be the favorite thing! :)
Carol said...
I'm making a quilt for my husband and it will be a surprise. He suggested a quilt with some trains on it because he is a fanatic, so I'm making a Thomas the Tank Engine quilt. We have five sons - all grown up now - and three of them loved the Thomas books and later the videos. They are very enthusiastic about this quilt - I'll probably have to make at least 3 more.
Brenda said...
Money is tight this year so the most exciting gift I am giving is 4 small seasonal wall hangings.I am also giving a homemade calendar.
I made 5 snowmen mug rugs for gifts. Wish I would have had time to sew more but I have 2 new grandbabies this year and Grandma spends her time with them. Maybe next year I'll Have more time. Thanks so much for the giveaways.
I have given up on trying to make any big quilts now, I will start again after the holidays and make them for next year. For now I am making mini ornaments that I can give as gifts to nursing home residents.
How generous of you and Penny. Merry Christmas to the both of you.
I don't think any of my gifts are very exciting this year... My husband has lost a bit of weight this year and has been having a great time buying a new wardrobe, so I decided to enhance it. New shirts and ties. Not my favorite gift, but I think he'll actually be pretty excited about it! Work has been so busy, I don't think I'll be able to get any handmade gifts finished this year. But I have big plans for next year! Thanks as always for your generosity. Merry Christmas to you and Penny!
We're giving my son a poster of dinosaurs. He is enamored with dinosaurs and trains, so this poster should be worth hours of study!
I'm giving my mom a quilt this year. I made it as a donation quilt for a wounded soldier, but she loves it so much, I'm giving it to her instead and making another to replace it. I know it will be a big surprise and look forward to her opening it!
JustPam said...
I made two Christmas quilts this year for gifts too. I won't get to see the recipients get them, but I hope they like them. I also am making table toppers and a tree skirt (already given) that I am excited to gift also.
Thanks for the giveaway and Merry Christmas!
Becky said...
It seems that I make quilts for gifts every other year. No quilts as gifts this year. We sent Chick Fil-A gift cards to our nieces and nephews during college finals week. It was a neat surprise for them and so much fun to do:)
Donna said...
I sure hope Penny picks me! I think the best gift I'm giving this year is a family portrait to my parents.
AnnieO said...
You are so sweet to have these giveaways! Most exciting is a find for my mom--she mentioned interest in a jewelry holder and I found a great one at Anthropologie that is like a tree and has her initial at the top--and is very elegant and charming. I think she will love it. Penny is a sweetie for wanting the drawing to be early :)
I won this last year and enjoyed it very much!
The most exciting gift I'm giving this year is a reindeer that sings, plays the guitar and dances. It was a real hoot. I dropped it in the toy collection bin at the library.
I am finally going to finish the sock monkey quilt I started years ago for my husband. He is also getting sock monkey pillowcases.
My most exciting gift to give this year is pillow cases for the surviving children at Sandy Hook School. If anyone would like to join, please see the post by Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville on 12/17/12.
I also made a quilt this year for a Christmas gift. A Julie Herman pattern in lavender and gray. It's the quilting that made the quilt.
I think the best gifts I made were two baby quilts for my two new granddaughters. I used minky on the back and the quilter did a beautiful job of making snowflakes. Susie H
I've been making coiled fabric bowls for Christmas gifts - they take less time than quilts and i still get to play with yummy fabric!
Thanks for your great giveaway!
Last year, I made a flannel strip quilt for my dad, he was so touched, he cried!
This year, I'm giving my very hard to buy for husband a Ipad!
I think I'm so excited to give it than he may be to get it!
Happy Holidays and Take care, Leslie
Only exiciting to me and I hope my grandson - I am giving my 4 year old grandson a portable cd player and some kid's cds. When my son was 4 he got a Fisher Price cassette player with some single cassettes and loved listening to it so much that he used to hang the player from the handle bars of his tricycle!
I made my mother an iPad cover. I know she will love it.
Socks. Apparently the world's best socks for hikers. While not the most exciting gift I am giving, it is the one I want to see opened the most.
Abbybeth said...
My most exciting gifts are also two quilts - one for my boyfriend (binding it now) and one for my mom (quilting it tonight and binding it in the car while traveling this weekend - I won't be driving of course!) So much work, but so worth it.
Penny said...
Just a quick comment from me Vicky ~ you are so generous on your give aways that there is nothing "mini" about them! I wish you & Penny a very Merry Christmas!
Meg said...
The most exciting gift I'm giving this year is, of course, a quilt. I give one every year, and this year, my dad's the recipient! Finished sewing on the binding last night, and now my Christmas shopping (and making) is officially done. Hooray! Hope he loves it. :)
Adele said...
I don't know how exciting they are, but as an "extra" present this year I made every one pot holders using all scrap fabrics. Too bad they didn't use up enough scrap fabric--I think I have enough to make pot holders for the world!
Giving my husband tickets for a tour of the space shuttle trainer. He's hard to buy for and I love giving experiences. Plus, I'll go on the tour too.
Melissa said...
out what my mom wrapped up for me last week when I saw that she entered this, too. She's not even telling YOU!
The most exciting gift that I am giving this Christmas is for Liam - he's a little boy that we babysit and he LOVES trains, so I am giving him a Thomas the Tank and a Percy pillow pet.
Sarah said...
My favourite gifts that I'm giving are two Lego kits to my 9yo and 6yo kids. They made clear early in October what they wanted for Christmas, I picked them up, and they've stayed true to what they originally wanted! My daughter thinks her kit has sold out and is sad that she can't get one, but I already have it for her!
pdudgeon said...
i think my favorite gifts i'm giving this year are two books from my own bookshelf to my son and daughter-in-law. Both books have a Civil War theme (they're re-enactors) along with a box of hot cocoa, another box of apple cider, and a box of candy canes. They just got some snow yesterday, so i hope they'll wrap up in the quilt i gave them a few years ago and have a good Christmas read.
Thanks for the give-away; the Fat Quarter Shop is my favorite place to shop online!
