It's been busy busy here this week, but not an iota of quilting going on. (insert frowny face here) I hope the other Short Listers are getting more done than I am!
Saturday I got up bright and early, got laundry going, unloaded the dishwasher, and loaded boxes in the car.
These are all going in the mail. Unfortunately, by the time I got the rest of the errands done, my mailing place was closed. I'll call today to see if they're open.
By the way, I love those Fat Quarter Shop boxes! I have been stockpiling them so I wouldn't have to look for boxes this month! They're sturdy, easy to tape shut -- but the best part is when they arrive on my doorstep, they have the most luscious fabric in them!!
Speaking of FQS, did everyone take advantage of their h-u-g-e sale last week! I did! I looked around for a whole day until I decided what to get. Kits are appealing to me right now since so much of my fabric has been temporarily tubbed up.
I try to make at least one Christmas quilt a year, and I fell in love with the It's Sew Emma pattern, Patchwork Forest. This one will be fun and easy to do, which translates into maybe I'll get it finished by Christmas 2013!!
Isn't it adorable?!!
I also picked up another It's Sew Emma pattern, Color Wheel.
I love the It's Sew Emma patterns. These are patterns designed by Kimberly and her staff at FQS and they're all wonderful. I love them so much that I joined the club! The patterns are tested multiple times before they're published, so I feel very secure in chopping up fabric using their recipes! Color Wheel happens to be a free pattern that Kimberly has offered. I always forget to check out the free pattern section!!
In the spirit of Christmas, I thought I would have small give-aways at least once a week for the next three weeks. Today is the Patchwork Forest pattern. I already had one and then got another one in the kit. So if you're interested in this pattern, leave a comment saying you'd like to be in the drawing. Penny will pick a winner on Thursday morning, 12/6.
Speaking of Penny - she's barely speaking to me now. A trip to the vet yesterday for a shot, a bath and a manicure. She wouldn't even look at me when they brought her out. The little snot!! When we got home, I realized that the Christmas bandana they had tied around her neck was bothering her, but she wouldn't come to me to remove it. I let her stew on that for a while, just ignored her. It took about an hour! Once that was off, she was a little happier but is still copping an attitude!
I need to remind her that Santa is making his list of who is naughty and nice!!

I'm making a Christmas quilt also, with blocks I won in a lottery. The Patchwork Forest looks like a good choice. I like Emma patterns also. Thanks for the generosity. Have a wonderful holiday.
Cute kits! My short list is going slow now after a quick start. I'll keep plugging away though.
Funny dogs. Mine don't like wearing bandanas either. I also like Kimberly's patterns and I don't have this one so I would be thrilled to win it. Thanks for the chance and have a nice day.
I have yet to try an It's Sew Emma pattern, but they sure look beautiful (and doable). Hope your dog is back to normal after all the doc excitement
Our groomer used to put bows in our poodles' ears. I thought they were adorable, but my husband put a stop to it because he said boy dogs don't wear bows. Thanks for the giveaway!
LOL that Penny! She is a stitch! I didn't get to do any shopping on Black Friday~hubby says I have too much fabric. what?! Is there such a thing? :-o Since I live in the NW I would love to have a Patchwork Forest quilt. Please add me to the bowl! Have a happy day!
i like their pattern's too. more info than a lot of them
My grandmama always took her dog, Abby, into be groomed whenever she had a hair appt. The first time I took Abby into be groomed, we adopted her just before gma passed, my DH initially thought she was a different dog and refused to take her home! I was so embarrassed. If my gma had been alive she would have killed me! She was basically shaved for bootcamp and did not even look like a lhasa apso any more.
I would love to win the patchwork forest pattern!
Oh, I'm sure Santa will have Penny on his "nice" list! I stayed away from any shopping over Thanksgiving, I've got drawers full of those impulse buys!
Silly Penny! The cats are never on the nice list. They don't even try. And they hate this time of the year - the human boy wears weird hats and antlers, Mom sings (off-key) all.the.time, and they get yelled at for eating ribbons off the boxes.
Thanks for the giveaway! Looks like a fun pattern. And when you get to yours, it'll be nice - I love that Kate Spain line.
Spike is a big time pain right now too. We have been relentless about the cone or spraying him from water bottle when he licks his paws. I want to use my $$$ for fabrics not the huge vet bills from the infected cysts he manages to generate overnight! But he is sulking big time except when we head to bed, he doesn't want to give up that spot between us.
As for sewing I got my 2 Christmas quilts off to quilter on Monday and even have the binding made so I can do a wild marathon when they get back!

My 2 hate bandanas...always have...they really get in a snit when the groomer puts one on them...I love them and always want to take their picture and they get so mad. Love both your kits...What great quilts!
I would love to make a few simple Christmas quilts...lovely patterns! You'll have fun making them!
i've been working hard on my list, and have the first two "Blitzen" quilt tops made and ready for the quilter. I'm ready to cut out "Blitzen Number 3" probably tomorrow. (subbed in #3 on the list since hubby said he didn't want a quilt for Christmas this year!)
(all quilts use the same "Blitzen" fabric, but each quilt is made from a different pattern.)
Still working on Bonnie's Mystery quilt, and am halfway thru clue #2.
i don't expect the "Maison Bleue" quilt back from the quilter's until early Jan, since it's not for Christmas and those quilts take prescedence--of course!
So after i get 'Blitzen #3" top made later this week I'll be able to take a break--i hope!--and get the Christmas decorations up and the baking done.
lovely pattern!
Penny and my Rusty must be trying to get on the "Naughty List." Rusty has had an attitude all week:)
I don't know why but I seem to busy...hoping to get the sewing room organized this week to make my short list. We might have to pick a month to do Christmas quilts together for next year!
oh poor Penny, my two pup are just happy to see me when I pick them up to go home. Great Pattern, thanks for the chance to win.
Nothing like full boxes of fabric to bring joy to a quilter :)
Love that Patchwork Forest pattern! Nice to know they are "in house" designed. Thanks for the chance to win.
Penny knows how to snub but good thing she's a dog and comes around pretty quickly, lol!
I love seeing the patterns you get --- gives me great ideas of which ones I might like to get for myself.
Patchwork Forest seems like it would even be easy enough for my DH to do. (He likes to work on quilts with me but is afraid of rotary cutting & lots of pieces so when he gets "moved" to sew it cuts into MY sewing time!)
Can't wait to see what projects you finish from your Short List.
That Penny is a hoot. Ours were the same way after our Thanksgiving trip, we left them for 5 days, good lord you would of thought it was total abandonment.
Love the pattern, please put my name in the hat for Penny to choose.
I have never tried one of their patterns but this one looks like fun. I would love to win it!
cute kits
I love the trees across the top! your going to have fun making these.
don't include me in the giveaway
kathie
Since you said it should work up quickly, please enter me in the drawing for the pattern. I have planned for years to make a Christmas quilt--maybe that would be the encouragement that I need.
