Charm Square Give-Away

A little quickie and fun give-away! The winner will get three charm packs of the new Butterfly Garden line by Kansas Troubles Quilters for Moda. Naturally these arrived on my doorstep from the Fat Quarter Shop!

I love the Kansas Troubles lines and have been buying them since I started quilting. This line is really scrumptious. You'd just need a pattern and maybe some border yardage to make a dynamite quilt!

The fun part - all you have to do is leave a comment and suggest a pattern from here that you'd like to make with the charm squares. I'm really intersted in how you might use them. I've collected a ton but have not used so many. I need ideas! There's no right or wrong answer here, and the drawing will be random, but you must have a pattern suggestion in your comment.

The quickie part - the drawing will be held on Wednesday, 3/24/10, at around 7:00 pm California time. I should be home from work by then. If I'm late, it's probably because I'm stuck on the freeway. The story of my life!

Have fun looking through the patterns and making suggestions. Good luck to everyone!

Oh, yeah, I always forget this part. I need to be able to get in touch with you if you're the winner. So, please either link to your blog or leave your email address.

I like Decoy or Gentle Art. Here is a link to a pattern I've made up for charms. http://grassrootsquilting.blogspot.com/search/label/charming%20stars
I've done a quilt and a large runner, the blocks are 16" so they work up fast. Love the fabrics you are giving away, how generous of you.

Oh Vicky great charm packs I would use them to make a few of Schnibbles patterns, probably
hat trick, hot cross and little red on page 30 of the patterns from FQS. I have been wanting to start collecting Miss Rosie Schnibbles patterns and was so happy to see she carries them all!
Thanks

Wow - so many choices... I like the tree skirt pattern (not that THIS charm pack would be the best choice of fabrics, but I think I will get it anyway) and also Kati Bella's Kati Cupcake baby quilt pattern (might have to get that one too). I have also found that a simple stacked coin pattern is a nice (and quick) way to use your charm packs.

cavguyswife98@yahoo.com - thanks for hosting.

I would definitely go for a Miss Rosie's Schnibbles pattern! They are especially made for Charm packs. And my choice would be the Silver Swan. I think it suits the Butterfly Garden line perfectly!

Judith said...

What an easy question to answer. That of course will be a Miss Rosie pattern, one of the schnibbles I haven't done yet. Thinking about maybe Rooibos, but it could also be one of her others.

Suburban Stitcher said...

This would be a cute schnibble pattern, but maybe also a small version of rachel's scruffly quilt from the moda bake shop?

Kathryn said...

I've been looking at that "On the Run" book for a few months. Maybe winning these charm squares will get me off the fence and buying it in order to use these squares.

I'd choose Charmed and Dangerous or possibly OSO Schnibbles!

if i won i would choose the pattern "Decoy".http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Shopper_id=698320122152698&Store_id=499&page_id=23&Item_ID=18109&Parent_Ids=
i've used this one before for a wall quilt, and the quilt came out just perfect! in this case i'd just use more charms than called for in the pattern and make a bigger quilt. Love those Kansas Troubles girls!

I would use them to make one of the table toppers in the Little Charmers series by Anka's Treasures.

This is easy, I would make a Schnibbles... so often when shopping I used to just pick up 1 charm pack of a given print, most Schnibbles use 2...so I would have enough to use light/med/dark tones as directed and then make a simple runner out of the leftovers! Thanks!

Nancy said...

Kati Bella Baby Quilt Pattern
Kati Cupcake would be a great simple pattern for charity. 3 charm packs would make 3 quilts for the Shriners Hospital of St Louis, a charity that my guild gives to regularly...

Caroline in NH said...

I have a current fascination with half-square triangles. With Charm Packs, half the work is done already! All you need to do is pick a light fabric - or match up lights and darks in pairs - and draw your sewing lines 1/4" on each side of the long diagonal. Keeping that in mind, my choice for a pattern just jumped out at me when I was looking through them - it's called "Picnic" - http://tinyurl.com/ye86zn5

Darlene said...

What a great giveaway, Vicky.

Charm packs are exactly what you need to make the wonderful Schnibbles quilts by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co - I love them ALL. That wondeful pile of charms would be fabulous if used in her new pattern, Oso (Bear).

Karen said...

So many choices. I can't wait for the new book Schnibbles Times Two, to arrive. And I would love to make Schnibbles Bennington. Then any leftover charms would make great tuffets. Can you tell I like Rosie's patterns? And I am always drawn to Kansas Trouble lines. I just finished a this and that pattern with one of kansas trouble lines. Great giveaway.

Laura said...

If I win, it would be just the excuse I need to buy the Schnibbles Times Two book. Or I might use the Relay Runners pattern by Artful Offerings. I have that one already. Quick and easy.

Barbara said...

I would love to make up the Schnibbles pattern Nice Day with the charm packs. This is a pattern that I have been wanting to make for a while and I think it would look wonderful in KT Butterfly Garden line.

I think the Elden Street pattern looks like it is fun to make! Though I would probably make it bigger so it isn't square!

Becky said...

I have a Schnibbles pattern by Miss Rosie called Roundabout. It would look great in this fabric. I also have a tote bag pattern that uses one charm pack. I'd only need to purchase a yard of fabric for the lining. Thanks for the opportunity! Thanks for hosting a give-away!

Svanhild said...

I think I'd like to make either the "Roundabout" or "Darcy" from Miss Rosie's quilt company.

Hi Vicky,

Love the Kansas Troubles Quilters Butterfly Garden line!

Hmmmm... What pattern to use with them?

My first answer is "Schnibbles Times Two" by Carrie Nelson.

The "Charm Quilts Quilt" book also looks like fun.

I also like "Dow Jones" and "Cheap Trick" by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.

And "Done in a Jiff" by Heartspun Quilts.

Oh, Oh, Oh, these would look great in "Silver Swan" by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.

Okay, now I'm backing away from the computer. :-)

This was a tough decision! But I think I'd like to try it with Schnibbles' Silver Swan pattern. Fun giveaway; thank you! :)

suz said...

I love KST fabric - always have. Even when I'm going thru a box of fat quarters, I find I've mostly picked their stuff! I could see this fabric w/a lot of patterns-for example, Late Bloomers Simple Squares. Of course Schnibbles are perfect and I've become addicted to them, so I'd probably pick Bennington (which is next on my list anyway), since the fabric would be beautiful with that pattern.

I have no idea on the pattern, I have such a hard time choosing sometimes. And it usually changes so much that the fabric I get for a specific pattern gets used elsewhere!

I suggest the pattern "Easy Charms" because well, it's easy :) and it's quite bright so it caught my eye. I am a sucker for white quilts - especially now that we're coming out of dark winter months here in Wisconsin and I really feel a need for freshening up. I think white speaks to that. This quilt can use more white in the outer border and even in some of the inner squares. Good luck and thanks for the contest!
