Stash Report 2010 - Week 42

Well, what can I say? I've totally blown any hope of ending this year even! But, you know, that's okay. The numbers are much better than they were for the past two years, so progress has been made!

The Maison de Garance box came in this week that I blogged about earlier. Also included in there was a half yard of shirting. All total, 49.5 yards in.

There were some fabrics outgoing to friends, so 13.42 yards busted.

Before anyone judges my numbers too harshly, a little history for you.

In 2008, I ended the year 283 yards in the hole.

In 2009, the number was (gasp) 393 yards in the hole.

This year doesn't look so bad after all!

Year-To-Date:

Busted: 376.92 yards
Purchased: 521.01 yards
Net YTD: (144.09) yards busted :(

I don't think there is need for any judgements. You are just thinking ahead and stocking up. When the fabric prices increase due to the rise in price of raw cotton, you will be sitting pretty. :)

i agree! you're doing much better at stash busting than you've ever done before, and that's what counts.

I always think I'm doing bad and then you make my day! And thinking about it terms of in and outs has gotten me to pull out old projects and kits this. For everything new I start I have been doing an older project too. So far its been working but I'm still buying plenty!

I think you're doing GREAT! Like you said, it's much better than years past.

You are doing great - look at the amount of fabric you have used. And, it is good to build the stash for later use and you are buying fabrics that you love. Have fun with it all! Liz

Eh no one has the right to judge but you.
You're doing better, and if it bothers you then ok but other people can go somewhere.
And as you've said it's your retirement fund in a way.
I have to say I'm jealous of the stash!!

your doing great!!!!
I think you should start calling this your retirement investment stash....
especially since cotton is going up so much next year, we had better stockpile....
Kathie , thats my story and I am going to stick with it!

You are doing much better than the previous years! I cannot even imagine, let me rephrase, I do not want to imagine going an entire year without purchasing fabric, not to excess . . .

Hi Vicky:) I was talking with a quilt shop owner yesterday. She was worried that at Market this year, fabric prices would skyrocket. I shopped her sale and felt like I was investing in my future:) At least the fabric in my sewing room is paid for. I have plenty to sew when I can no longer afford to purchase new fabric. It's just a matter of having a positive attitude:)

Who would judge? I think we all really admire you. I know I do. You buy your fabric with such joy. It brings you pleasure. Where is the harm? (Hummmm. I wonder if that is called enabling.) I really need to learn how to push that buy button. I get it all in the cart and then I can't do it. I just can't. Any pointers on closing the deal?

Yes the number for 2010 is down from 2009 but does that number make you feel good? That's what's important. I enjoy watching your purchases. As a beginning stash collector, it's inspirational. I see some major fabric purchases in my future.

Maybe next year, you will end it pretty even? I think that my report for next week will be pretty awful, too!

BUT!!! At least we LOVE everything that we get! :)
