How Are We Doing?

It's August 22nd, a day I usually spend doing online shopping. But not this year! I'm so out of the fabric-buying mode it's not even funny! I decided this year I would forego the usual shopping "trip" and instead pull one or two quilt kits from my stash! :)

Going to dinner in an hour with Mr. & Mrs. Boss. I'm really looking forward to dinner with Jane tomorrow night! I haven't seen her in two weeks. Wow, just realized I'm having lots of dinners this week.... guess that's what happens when you turn 55. My brother called me today with birthday wishes, and it was so good talking to him. But it really tugged at my heart when he said how much he missed me. Really tugged - hard! I'm going to get to Louisiana next month no matter what!

Daisy is still snoozing. She opened one eye and looked at me when I got home. She's still being real tippy-toe around me, ever since the bath Sunday. LOL. She has such a hard life! *sigh* I guess I'm punished!

Sending lots and lots of birthday wishes your way. I hope you had a nice dinner with Mr & Mrs. Boss but I'm sure you'll have a grand time tomorrow night with Jane. :-)

A very happy birthday to you Vicky girl!! A special quilting friend indeed!! So proud of you for making it this far. Once you get past the withdrawing symptoms, it's not bad at all.
And having kits in the stash really helps too!!
Hugs, Finn

Happy birthday, Vicky! There are other "presents" you can give yourself besides fabric... put that money aside and use it for a trip to see your brother! Enjoy your kits - I am looking forward to seeing what you are going to do next.

Cheers!

Happy birthday! 55 is a big year. You should make yourself a quilt.

A very happy birthday!!!! Since you are our fearless leader in this great fabric depression, kudos to your using your stash kits instead of your credit card.
Even though you dreaded the dinner, hope the company and the food were good in the end.
Once you stop counting the days in August, maybe you can start a countdown for Louisiana. That way, you'll have a light at the end of your tunnel.

Happy Birthday to you! You share your special day with David. :-)

I know it's not a good time for you at work but it sure sounds like your brother really needs you at home! And I think you really need to be there for yourself too. It's hard to be so far from your loved ones during troubing times. I'm glad you're making plans for that trip home. It will be good for both of you.

Daisy is being so funny. :-) My fur-babies do me that way too when they feel like they've been wronged. Like when I go out of town overnight. When I get home they ignore me - from 3 feet away. LOL!

Vicky, I hope you had a wonderful birthday. You're doing a great job with not buying fabric...don't they say if you do something for 21 days it becomes a habit? I guess not shopping is your new habit!

Happy Birthday, Vicky--so it was the 22nd or is the 23rd? Lots of friends and family with bdays in August!

Your bday present to yourself should be airfare to LA-the heck with fabric. They will make more--isn't that our motto around here?

Would you normally be shopping because it's your BIRTHDAY? Happy Birthday and congratulations for your strong no-buy resolve!
