What a Day!

First, I overslept and was scurrying around getting my hair dry and dressed this morning. I grabbed shoes out of the ones I had put aside to polish. This is what I saw I had on when I got home a while ago! Sheesh...

Then when I got to work, there a long memo from our Receptionist. It seems the employee who had two strikes called in at 7:00 this morning that her dad was in the hospital and she wouldn't be in. When the Receptionist said she was going to put her in my voice mail, the employee responded that she didn't want to talk to "that b**ch," and proceeded to give the Receptionist confidential accounting information that I would need when I got to the office. Three strikes. She will be a former employee the moment she sets foot in the office from her personal leave. The CEO was furious. Give 'em enough rope ...

And I just realized that I forgot on my desk at work the 17 copies of the paper piecing pattern I drew out last night. So much for getting started on that block. Guess I'll work on the red and white quilt assembly tonight. Oh, yeah, and polish shoes!

I'm doing real good on the No Fabric challenge. It's only three days into it, but I really don't want any new fabric. Of course, this Saturday is the goodbye get together at The Fabric Patch. I've already said my goodbyes, but I know myself well enough to know I'll mosey on over there just to give another hug to everyone. But I'm leaving my checkbook in the car. I am! Watch me!

Gratitudes:

~ Very light traffic all week. (I probably just jinxed it for tomorrow!)

~ Determination!

~ New flowers being planted in the medians in our neighborhood!

~ The never-ending inspiration from my quilty friends!

The shoes must be the same heel height you would have noticed the two different shoes. Poor Vicky.

Not a good day indeed but you didn't succumb to buying to make yourself feel better. The test will be this weekend, for sure.

laughed re the shoes... I've seen socks, but never shoes before :-) And while I'm sorry that you've had an employee that's been problematic, I'm glad it's resolving for you...

Vicky, I guess no one else notice the shoes or if they did, they didn't say anything. Glad the bad employee finally solved your problem! Amazing how those things work, huh?

We're 1/10th of the way through August and no fabric yet! Doing good, aren't we?

Can't believe you left your patterns at work. Be sure to bring them home tomorrow . . it's the WEEKEND!!!

LOL - I've done that too! The light in the room where I dress isn't all that good. I've gone to work with a blue and a black shoe on. They are exactly the same style - just different colors. Also with a blue and a black stocking on. (Not on the same day.) Don't know whether anyone else noticed, but I was mortified when I did!

I'm a late-to-bed, late to rise kind of person, so I have to lay my clothes out the night before JUST to avoid gaffe's like that happening!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)

too funny about the shoes!
thanks again for the fabric diet idea - I have had such a great time combing through my stash and finding some wonderful fabrics that have been living far to long in those boxes. time to put them to work!

2 questions
Are you the "b*tch?" (to which my reply would be - "Do these 'kids' know anything these days?" Some "thinks" need to stay unspoken - I tell me hubby that far too often... he says, "I was thinking." I reply, "If I can hear you you are not thinking."

& do those shoes even match?

Your love of scrappy quilts has extended to your shoes!

Ithink we all love the shoe "thingy" Vicky, but I'm sure it just added more injury to the insults of the day. It may start a new fashion trend. Or maybe you were just "testing" office workers to see if they were awake and alert??? Could be a great NEW employee tactic..*VBS*

So sorry of the nastiness of one unnamed former employee...totally unnecessary to make it personal...and she did. Anger accomplished soooo little.
Remember those PP's today, so you have get started on them this weekend...yah for weekends..and cooler weather! Hugs, Finn (who KNOWS you will do just fine going for The Last Farwell..*VBS*)
Do you remember that Roger Whittager song??

Wow, that was a sucky day! Funny about the shoes. I had an office mate that came in with one blue and one black. We didn't notice until later in the day when I was staring at the floor while talking on the phone and she walked by. :)

I just did the shoe thing last week. I had put two different shoes in the morning to see what one looked better in the mirror. Only I got distracted and never looked and left the house.

When I got out of my car at work I looked down and noticed I had a black and a cream coloured shoe on. Luckily I hada pair of "back up" shoes in my office. Sadly that is the thrid time I have done it.

Too funny, I've done the same. Sorry for the attitude from the former employee...but you are right about them hanging themselves.

I have also made almost the same mistake with shoes. We were going on a quilt trip, and when I was dressing up for dinner (we were over 70 guests) I discovered that I had brought two black left shoes.
No fancy shoes that evening.
LOL

The shoes are a funny story! Great way to start a weekend. I don't know what it is with some people, they just don't get iy, do they?

Sorry you had such a bad day, Vicky. But you were able to take care of a bad situation without any confrontation.
The shoe thing has happened here also. At least yours were the same color.
Good luck at the final farewell. Maybe there won't be anything good left.
