Nasties

Yes, nasties. That's what I call people who make nasty, often anonymous, comments.

It has gotten out of hand. There are folks, women, who have nothing better to do than to sit at their computer making swipes at those of us who enjoy blogging and quilting, and talking about blogging and quilting. My last comment to those people - get a life. Go make a quilt. Go vacuum the carpet.

I would like to ask everyone who reads my blog to do something for a while until this all settles down.

If you get one of those kind of comments on your blog - just delete it. Delete it. Delete it. If you see one on my blog, please email me and I'll delete it. Just don't respond to it.

After a while when those people see they're not getting a rise out of us, they will go away. You see, what they want is attention. They want to stir up a heated discussion. They want to upset me or you with their comments. Just delete them. They are nobody of interest or importance to us. They're a boil on the butt of humanity.

DELETE THEM!!

Thank you.

Didn't see the comment but I totally agree. Someone left a nasty comment on my friend Sharon's blog, Red Geranium Cottage and it was quite upsetting to her, it was very mean. You are so right these people just want to get a reaction and it's better to not give them the satisfaction.

One of the perks of no one reading my blog and having a boring life...no one comments. LOL How sad some people have nothing better to do than to complain about what we put on OUR blogs.

I totally agree. Let's ignore these nasties and continue enjoying our quilting blogs. Thank you, Vicki for continuing to blog. I look forward to your blog posts.

Doesn't hurt one bit to delete those comments, does it? Good for you but I'm sorry you're getting them.

May i make a good comment?

I got a chance to see a finished heritage quilt this week (just like the one you're making with the pinwheels) and it is every bit as beautiful as you said it was.

I have never had anyone leave a mean comment on mine. You seem like such a nice person, I don't know what they could find to be mean about!

Great suggestion.

I couldn't agree with you more, Vicky. I just don't get all the nastiness.

So, what would you do with Mrs. McNasty who leaves sweet comments on your blog but sends mean and nasty e-mails. Yes, Mrs. McNasty sends e-mails telling me that I lack originality, if I used a stem-stitch my embroidery projects would be fit to show off on my blog, I should be ashamed to have so many flimsies that need to quilted, and the list goes on. Sigh! I tolerated her for awhile and finally sent her an e-mail and asked her to please stop reading my blog but to please sending her nasty noties because I would reveal who she was on my blog. She has stopped sending the nasty e-mails and seldom leaves a comment on my blog. She was driving me crazy, Vicky. I just don't get that type of behavior. Sigh

I appreciate your post~

If, like Darlene, the nasties come in email, some of the email clients allow you to block an address. Back in the day of newsgroups, these people were called Trolls.

Vicky
do not let them win. I love your blog. I read everyone you write and enjoy the pictures you add.

Yep, I got one of those once. I just left it on my blog--I guess I should have deleted it, but I didn't. It bothered me so much at the time! But now I know there are just some people who like to lurk and be insulting--there's even a name for them..."trolls." I think it's a perfect name--ugly little unpleasant beings who lurk in dark places and only spring out to hurt you. Don't let the cowardly anonymous trolls get you down!

"boil on the butt" made me laugh out loud and gave me a mental picture of anonymous posters...

I don't get it either. Why keep reading someone's blog if it annoys you? I find them fun and interesting to read...and just wish I didn't from time to time get behind!

I say off with their heads!!! (or delete them, whichever is easier!)

I just don't understand these nasty people...must be very unhappy people...I love your analogy..."boil on the butt of humanity"...may I use that one...it's perfect!

Didn't these gals have a mom that taught them "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all"???? That's what my Mom always said.

I think that the idea of just deleting nasty comments and not responding is probably a good one. That sounds like more advice that my Mom would have given me. (Gee, when I was a kid I thought I'd NEVER agree with Mom, but now I realize how smart she really is!)
