Stash Report 2010 - Week 29

Lately I'm kind of like the line from that old Henry VIII song by Herman's Hermits - "Second verse same as the first."

Nothing in; nothing out.

No sewing projects planned, but I am slowly working on those Civil War Tribute blocks when I just need to sit at the sewing machine for a few minutes. It takes me two or three weeks to make a month of blocks, but that's okay. Slow forward motion is better than none at all, I guess.

My work person is not doing well at all. This sadness has zapped all my energy. I'm hoping that walking the Long Beach quilt show next weekend will restore some of the joy I seem to have lost this year. Also, I must get more applique prepped to keep my hands and mind busy. I hate cancer.

On a more cheery note - Penny is still doing what she does best .......

ROFLOL. Well, I guess that's not really very cheery after all!

Busted: 232.625 yards
Purchased: 307.955 yards
Net YTD: (75.53) yards busted :(

I loss my dad to cancer and now my mom's best friend has it...I see terrible sadness in my mom and wish there was something I could do to make it all feel right again. Life isn't always an easy ride and truly hope yours gets feeling better soon. You've got some sweet company.

Penny has the right idea when it is so hot. :-) Sorry your mojo has been waning as you deal with your friend's health problems. It is certainly sobering to watch someone you care about suffer. Sending good thoughts!

Vicky, I am so sorry to hear about your work friend, but you are not alone. I lost my best friend 2 1/2 years ago and now another dear friend, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, starts aggressive chemo tomorrow. It's already in her liver, so you know the prognosis is not good. We are the lucky ones, so we have to strong, but I promise you it is not easy. God bless you and your friend, and may He give strength and courage to all of us.

So sorry to read this post. It made me all quiet inside. I can imagine it takes away your energy. Thinking of you.

Ironically, while reading your blog recently I was thinking about your 'work friend' and hoping things were better. We've lost three friends this year - all to cancer. Sigh!

The Long Beach Show will be a nice respite for you. Relax & enjoy!

Smoochies from Cooper for Penny!

So sorry to hear about your friend. It does suck energy just to manage our emotions and be strong for others around us. My stash report...5.5 in and 10 out! Yea, made a little room for new purchases in Long Beach.

I hate cancer too. Especially when it hits really close to home (as I know all too well). My thoughts and prayers are with you and those you care about.

Your mojo will return and is actually a wonderful form of therapy. At least it is for me.

Hugs

Oh, it is difficult to have to see people you care about suffer so much. Nothing seems to mean as much when a life is at stake. Sorry to hear your work friend is not doing well. Very sad indeed.

I'll be at the Long Beach show too, with a posse of 7. We're planning to enjoy ourselves thoroughly seeing exhibits, shopping, and doing the quilty walk and talk. Hope your mojo gets a lift seeing beautiful things.

I'm so sorry about your friend at work...I'll say my prayers. You are gonna just have to hug and kiss on Penny and hope you get through this time of sadness. My thoughts are with you. Hope to see you in Long Beach.

I empathize with you about your friend. I have a work friend who has stomach cancer. She's been dealing with it for 3 years but we think she may be on the down side now. She keeps remarkable upbeat and matter-of-fact about it, and we try to do the same, but you can see that there are days that she's in pain and you know there isn't anything you can do for her but be there and pray. We've already lost one friend to MS and another has been dealing with breast cancer. It's been a long 3 years here. My sewing and stitching is what keeps me going.

Sorry to hear about your friend, Cancer sucks. I've been on both ends, s.i.l. was diagnosed terminal out of the gate, and I am fighting the battle and winning.
