The only thing busted was last week's give-away.
I was feeling all righteous because I didn't poke any buttons this week - but yet looky what landed from the prior week's button poking!
French Reel kit and backing - 10.25 yards. I know, I know, there's enough Maison de Garance in my stash room to make fifty of these. But isn't that quilt cute? I'm thinking it'll be quick to put together (and then I won't have to cut into that other luscious yardage that I'm saving for just the right project).
See why my stash room isn't big enough?
Then there were 13 yards of Bliss that landed. I belong to the Moda Layer Cake Club and the Moda Charm Park Club at the Fat Quarter Shop. Mostly I give those away or trade them off with Jane, but I decided to keep these and needed yardage go-withs. Needed? Well, just in case I ever actually make anything out of them.
See why my stash room isn't big enough? Oh, yeah, I already said that.
Well, on second thought, I did poke *one* button this week, so I expect a package next week. The 108" backing of Luna Notte finally arrived at Kimberly's, so I had to get some of that. You know, to go with that Luna Notte that I stocked up on several weeks ago.
I finally figured it out. It's like a domino effect. I buy this one simple little layer cake or something, and then I end up with 986 yards of go-withs - because I never know what I'll need when I decide what to make out of it.
I've said this before, too -- I'm the marketer's dream customer!
Oh oh oh, speaking of Market ... I mean, we were talking about Market, right? ... Jane is there getting all full of inspiration and everything. I can't wait to hear her take on it and all the wonderful designers she's met. All I can say is it's probably a good thing I can't go to Market!
And on a sad note, for those of you who live down in this area, Ginger's husband passed away this weekend. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Year-To-Date:
Busted: 385.455 yards
Purchased: 544.32 yards
Net YTD: (158.865) yards busted :(

Just keep thinking of all the beautiful quilts that you'll have when you use all your stash up, ;-)
Well on a positive you sure are helping the economy right?
I'm here to help you - just send that French Reel kit to me and you won't have to count it. I'm just trying to be a good friend. LOL
It is frustrating to be making a quilt from precuts and then can't find the fabric that matches. That has happened to me several times. I keep trying to use my oldest fabric up first...It's not always fun though.
Oh such pretty fabrics. No, your stash room isn't big enough. You need to add on. That is the solution. Can't wait to see your quilt sewn up. Get busy.
You've hit the nail on the head. If you buy the one focus fabric you like (yardage or charm pack) and you don't buy any accompanying yardage it just sits in your stash because you don't have anything to go with it!
But on the bright side, you've busted almost 400 yards, that's great. From my view you were just slightly over-replacing what you were using!
Bigger stash room - I second the motion.
You just hit the nail on the head why I'm trying to get back to my scrap quilting roots and stop buying the layer cakes that I became obsessed with during the last year.
I ended up with tons of related yardage to be sure that I would have enough when I finally decided on a project. I'm sure I will still end up with buying some new collections that I just "must have", but I'm being very, very, selective at this point because I have outgrown my stash space too!!
I so wish!
It is a domino effect. I have the same problem, smaller scale just because of finances but if not I'd be right there with you!
You're going to make some gorgeous things with all this fabric once you're retired!
So I thought I was so smart, I started deciding on a pattern as I ordered the precuts so I could buy just the right yardage. Good plan if you write down which pattern and/or idea so later as you star at the 2 jelly rolls and layer with yardage you remember what is was for! Now I am starting to write it down as I ORDER it. helps some...lol...btw I did the same thing with the Bliss, just love that fabric and have already ordered more 2x.
So true - that's why I am looking forward to Bonnie Hunter's visit and get into the scrap mode again...
yep, definitely love the french reel quilt! i hear that Moda is comming out with two new versions of quilter's chocolate, so i might have to stock up on that soon. the French reel is the perfect pattern to eat, er.... use up all that chocolate.
I just did the same thing, bought 2 charm packs and a coordinate. Needed more coordinate, poked buttons, now need stop border and outer border to go with the top. Need to poke more buttons. Need to stop buying charm packs! Good luck with M&S auction, looks like you may win both pieces.
After my BOM that I had to add this week, we are almost even in our net numbers! Woo hoo!! lol
I don't think you can have too much of a fabric you love. Yes, I am an enabler....LOL!I've made 2 quilts with Bliss and ordered another layer cake and related fabrics for another. I just love it. You will be such a happy girl when you retire. I'm so sorry to hear about Ginger's husband.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I love seeing what you buy, and it saves me from being more tempted!
Love the fabric you added this week. lol, I can relate to the "must have fabric for backing", as I do that when I buy fabric. Maybe we will live to be 105 and get all of this done. Or maybe we can get someone to cut it all out, and then all we have to do is sew it up right?
Oooh love your little button poke purchases! :-) You have great taste! Have a good week! Sorry to hear about your friend.
I saw that Bliss line while in Shipshewana and I was so tempted. That one tempted me as much as anything I've seen lately but I was strong. I'll be watching to see what you do with it.
