When I was finishing up the gingerbread men blocks this weekend, I suddenly realized I had no buttons for the blasted things. And I sure didn't want to go out in the heat (had to throw in some weather here!) just to get buttons.
I put them aside for a moment, and then the lightbulb came on. I remembered I had gotten buttons a couple of years ago at a quilt shop near Jane's house. But where were they? I looked in a drawer of my sewing table first because that's where I would put them now. And there they were! Amazing! LOL
These aren't the prettiest or the best buttons in the world. But for $3.99 a bag, with probably over 100 in each bag, they'll do just fine! I saw them in a couple of booths at Road to California quilt show last January, too. There are all sizes and shapes in each bag. Perfect!
Just goes to show if you hang onto quilty things long enough, you'll finally find a use for them! At least that's what I'm hoping for that drawful of rulers that are still in the packages!

Very cute buttons - could be very cute in many quilts.
If you ever want to pass on the teeny tiny buttons, they have a place in my stash.... I'm just saying...
I wouldn't live long enough to find a use for some of the things I hang on to.....as I matter of fact, I have things that my parents and grandparents hung on to...and they've been gone a LONG time! LOL
Don't you just love using something you knew you would need someday? Makes all that impulse buying worthwhile! I have loads of buttons and feel great satisfaction when I find just the right one.
And, I ditto Gail's comment.
I have a huge tub of buttons myself. I like collecting cute bags of them I see, that way I always have buttons if I need them. You mentioned Road to California, I have got to remember to go to that next year! Every year I say I'm going, and I forget!
Perfect! That's the kind of thing I would have thrown out and then had to go buy again. I keep all the worthless crap I'll never ever use and throw out what few things actually have value.
I have a boxful of buttons....it does come in handy. We always use to play with my grandmother's....she had a huge tinful. We'd be amused for hours.
Vicky - Those button bags are so super cute!
Oh my goodness -- I have JARS FULL of buttons!!!!
Cooler here today.
Jeanne :)
I love buttons too, but you know what? I rarely use them! I know where they are though. I used to bead before I took up quilting and I keep hoping to come up with a project I like where I can use some of my beads, but since I rarely make anything like "art quilts," it may be a long, long time!
Hey, I bet you got those buttons at MY quilt shop in Corona. Did you go there with Jane?? I think I know your Jane. Ask her if she knows me. I bet she does. I love her!!!! Tell her I said hi!!!!
