Whoops!

Well, I put these down to take a picture of them, and Penny ran through the picture. That's when I noticed that I had the other side of the square-in-a-square to sew on. Geez, no wonder all those triangles were still sitting on my sewing table!

This is Charleston Harbor BOM. As soon as I get those triangles sewn on, it'll be another caught up BOM!

Cooking with gas here!

Oh, speaking of cooking -- Penny did something so strange today. I thought I'd broil a steak in the oven. I turned the oven fan on to pull out the smoke. After about 10 minutes, Penny was practically screaming, and I couldn't find her anywhere. Honestly, she was missing and I was panicking. I looked under and in every conceivable place in the condo. I hadn't opened the door. I was about to call the police, convinced someone had stolen her off the patio. Then I heard a wimpering. She was hiding behind the quilt rack in the living room. I think the sound of the oven fan scared the bejeebers out of her. Scared me, for sure, when I couldn't find her. Penny, Penny, what a chicken-hearted little thing you are!

Stash Report Weeks 33 - 35

I decided to keep going on this - if for no other reason, the entertainment value provided to one reading my blog!

Still working on catching up BOM blocks, so nothing busted.

I ordered another bolt of aged muslin, so added 20 yards.

My goal is to tie up all of these loose ends in my sewing room and be ready to roll when I get back from Louisiana at the end of September. Of course, I'll be running head-on into a busy time at work, but that should only last a couple of weeks. I'm ready to move these stacks of fabric out of here and into quilts. Of course, the to-be-quilted pile is growing proportionately. It's always something.

Year-to-Date Totals:

Busted: 165.25 yards
Purchased: 490.875 yards
Net YTD: <325.625> yards

Penny had her stitches out yesterday. I was worried about them hurting her getting them out. She wagged her tail the whole time. She pudged up after her surgery to 8.8 lbs. She's not quite seven months old, so we've cut back a bit on her puppy chow. She's been running around like crazy today, so I'm sure she'll tone up again in no time flat.

Penny's mommy needs to cut back on her puppy chow, too!

It's all The Fat Quarter Shop's Fault!

It's all their fault if I die with truckloads of stash that hasn't been sewn up yet!! Anne Sutton and I discussed getting adjoining rocking chairs at The Home to finish up our UFOs ... just might come down to that! :)

Did you all see the new Thimbleberries BOM? It comes in three colorways just like the last one did. I chose the DUSK this time. It will go very well in my brother's house. Don, if you're reading this, it'll be more than a year - so cool your heels! I love that they're offering the backing set, too. I know I'll have the backing already when I get the BOM done.

What's especially nice about Thimbleberries is that the blocks are easy enough for beginners, but yet fun enough to keep the more experienced quilters interested. I've done quite a few of Lynette's quilts and each one has been a blast to make.

Head over to Jolly Jabber and leave a comment! There's a very substantial gift certificate for the winner of the drawing!

Wait, what am I saying?!! Don't leave a comment -- I want to win this one!! LOL

As usual, Kimberly, Kevin and the staff at The Fat Quarter Shop have done a fabulous job of getting another gorgeous BOM for us! You folks rock!

Pennsylvania Dutch BOM

I mentioned this once before, but it's worth another mention.

A new BOM is starting in November from The Fat Quarter Shop, and it's a beauty!

Pennsylvania Dutch uses my favorite colors from the gorgeous Wiscasset fabric line by Minick & Simpson that I've been about to pop to get my hands on.

There's a drawing for a Wiscasset Charming Jelly Cake at The Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber blog.

Head on over and sign up - for the BOM and the drawing!! Read the rules carefully as there are several ways you can earn multiple entries in the drawing!

I really really hope I win! :) :) :)

Behind on Everything

I've been reminded not once but twice that I didn't post a stash report this week. I plumb forgot about it! I'm forgetting everything these days. Guess that comes with getting another year older!

I received a cast iron doxie boot scraper for my birthday. I set it down on the floor, and Penny went nuts! Here she's finally gotten up the nerve to check it out. She stood back from it and barked for a few minutes first! Like an old woman. If I move something, she takes great offense. I moved a few UFO tubs on Saturday morning, and she let me know she didn't like that one bit! What a goof-ball!

I am trying to catch up on my Charleston Harbor BOM. I love this BOM, but this month was a bit labor intensive! It's really coming together nicely eight months into it.

Penny is feeling great. She danced and pranced around for Jane and her DH on Saturday. Except she wore out about 8:00 pm and went and got in her kennel all by herself. That was the first time, but she did it again this morning. I think it's finally sinking in that that's her safe haven. This puppy thing is coming together nicely, too.

Simply Sophisticated Reminder - WINNER!

I'm so sorry to be late in announcing the winner. I fell asleep sitting upright on the sofa last night - and then stumbled to bed about 9:00.

The winner of this month's $25 gift certificate from The Fat Quarter Shop is Lynn M.!

Lynn, I'm going to email your gift certificate to you in a few minutes.

The Fat Quarter Shop has been wonderful this year during our Simply Sophisticated journey. Thank you again and again to Kimberly and Kevin for making it such fun.

There is ONE more month. I hope everyone has gotten caught up by now. I have! Let's all get our blocks posted for the final drawing!

Congratulations, Lynn!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Those of you making Simply Sophisticated blocks from The Fat Quarter Shop - don't forget that tomorrow evening is the drawing for the $25 gift certificate that Kimberly and Kevin have once again very generously donated!
Post a comment HERE with a link to your blog picture of your block, or email me with a picture of them to be entered.
I've been so wrapped up in Penny this week that the drawing totally slipped my mind. Thank you to those who reminded me!
An update on Penny -- she's doing great. I caught her up the staircase last night, and this morning she was running through the house like something was after her. I guess she's feeling a lot better. I hope her incision is healing okay. She was licking at it last night a little. It looks puffy but not infected. I'll keep an eye on it.
I need to get moving this morning. Jane and her sweet DH are coming over this afternoon. We're going to grill steaks out of the freezer, and just enjoy the day. I'm sure birthday cake will be involved! LOL
Home from Surgery
She's not a real happy camper right now. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Here she's sound asleep with her front legs stiff and holding up her upper body. It must hurt to lay on her tummy.
I wish I could make her more comfortable. If kisses were wishes, she'd be all well because she's been kissed a million times tonight.
Thanks to everyone for worrying with me.
Sweet Treasures BOM Blocks Done!
I decided this weekend to focus on Sweet Treasures BOM since I had received all of the blocks. They're done!! Just need to pull out the finishing kit and get going on that, but it'll have to wait a while.
I now have three BOMs that have blocks finished and just need to be assembled - or as Jane's DH says, "Some assembly required."
Feels good!
Penny is a Quilter
Now I know - when I hear Penny growling and barking and running up and down the stairs, I should investigate immediately!
I turned around and she had a selvage strewn down the staircase and into my sewing room!
Then I tried to take it away from her, and she decided tug-o-war would be a fun game to play!
Just got back from her follow-up appointment at the vet. She's doing great, and weighs 8.6 lbs. Of course, I worried that she's almost at her top weight at only six months old. Doc said she was solid muscle and not a smidgeon of fat on her, so quit worrying! Okay, I admit it. I'm a worrier! If you need someone to worry for you, I'm your gal!
Monday morning bright and early I drop Penny off with Doc to be spayed. I'm going to worry about that all weekend, but I know it's the best thing for her. I just don't want her to be hurting after the surgery. He assured me after a day or two she'd be fine.
Maybe all of my friends in bloggerland can worry with me on Monday, okay?
I heart my Penny.
I'm heading in there right now to sew! Hopefully I'll have some BOM blocks to post later!
Go ahead and say it .... IT'S ABOUT TIME!!
Simply Sophisticated Block 11
Simply Sophisticated Block 11 of 12 from The Fat Quarter Shop! I'm on the ball this month! Susan in Florida emailed me this morning that she already had hers done, so I figured I'd better get to it!
I'm going to mention a typo in the instructions, just in case some of you - LIKE ME - may have missed the correction. Print Two - you'll need two 3-7/8" squares and sixteen 2" squares. It's obvious, but I just thought I'd mention it.
To be entered in the monthly Simply Sophisticated drawing for the $25 gift certificate so generously donated by The Fat Quarter Shop, please leave a comment on this post and link us to your blog where you've posted your completed blocks. If you don't have a blog, please email me a picture of your blocks to be entered in the drawing. There are two drawings left. If you're behind, just skip ahead to this month and get 'em done!
The drawing will be held on Sunday, August 23rd around 6:00 p.m. Pacific time.
Since we're almost done, you might want to grab a backing set while there are still a couple available. Goodness, I love this fabric!
And don't forget to visit Jolly Jabber to see the exciting news! Kimberly, Kevin and Emma are having a special give-away to celebrate the arrival of their bundles of joy! The babies are so beautiful, and Miss Emma is delighted with her little brothers!
Good luck!
Stash Report Week 32
In the midst of organizing, pulling projects, and tubbing up fabric that I'll be using later, I found some lines that I really like but needed more to actually make something.
You SO know where this is headed ....
Purchased 27 yards. Nothing busted.
Year-to-Date Totals:
Busted: 165.25 yards
Purchased: 470.875 yards
Net YTD: <305.625> yards
Miss Penny picked her favorite! She's my enabler!
A Joyous Day!!
My dear friends, Kimberly and Kevin from The Fat Quarter Shop, and, of course, the adorable Miss Emma, have TWO new additions to their family. Two beautiful baby boys were born today! And to celebrate, there's a give-away at their Jolly Jabber blog! Please go visit their blog and leave a comment to be in the drawing for two fat quarter bundles! Fair warning: Be ready to say a big "Awwwwww" when you see the precious picture of Emma! She's such a doll!
And another joyous occasion today was a box from Julie at Jaybird Quilts! I love pincushions, and I'm delighted that I was a winner of one of the beautiful pincushions she made and so generously gave away! Thank you, sweetie! I love it! You're SO talented!!
Oh, my, this has been quite a day! To quote Jocelyn, we were on "pins and needles" waiting for the baby news. I found myself alternately pacing and staring at a boring spreadsheet on my desk! Hopefully pictures will be posted soon, and their names will be revealed! :) :) :)
Enough of this Nonsense!
I'm heading in there to sew something -- anything. Might be best I start with that BOM block that's been cut and sitting by my sewing machine for over a month. Except ...
... there's this little puppy who loves to attack my feet! She's feeling good and wanting to play.
I have food from the freezer heating up, already polished shoes after seeing this photo (rolls eyes), and I'm heading in there to get acquainted with my Bernina. Right now!
Penny's August 1st Give-Away - WINNER!
I let random number generator do the work for me tonight. Thank you to all who participated. I will have a lot of fun going around to all of your blogs over the next week or so!
The winner of the food fabric bundle that Penny chose for you is ........
PDUDGEON who said "LOL what a cute puppy Penny is, and such a good stash buster to boot! I'd be honored to win her very first selection."
Congrats, and I'll be sending you an email in a few minutes to get your snail mail address.
Again, thanks to everyone for encouraging me to stash bust .... one way or the other!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Penny woke me up bright and early this morning and said I had to cut fat quarters - of food fabric - before breakfast! Then after I had cut them, she told me I had to give them away! What a little stinker! She's feeling much better, although a bit scrawny. That must be why she chose all these wonderful fabrics with fruits and veggies on them! I think she's telling me something!

There are 37 FQs in this bundle, mostly from the Kyle's Marketplace line. I must have tried to collect other food fabrics, too, because a few are from another line. The selvage on Kyle's Marketplace says 2004. This might be their first Marketplace line. They're now seasoned and aged, and ready for your use!! Wouldn't these make cute grocery bags? I'm just saying ...

We'll do a quickie give-away this time. The drawing will be tomorrow evening, Sunday August 2nd, about 7:00 p.m. Pacific time.

Please remember to leave a way for me to contact you if you are the winner. If your comment doesn't link to your blog, then I'll need your email address.

And, yes, this will be on my stash report!! LOL

Good luck to everyone!!

Stash Report Week 31

Well, 31 weeks have flown by this year and I don't have anything to show for it - except for a stash room filled to overflowing, and a teetering pile of UFOs sitting over there taunting me.

Declarative Statement: This is the last weekend this year I don't sew!

The bolt of aged muslin arrive on my doorstep, so that's 15 yards in. I sure hope this stuff is available year-round to us. I think Marcus Bros. hit a home run here.

Boxes are packed to be mailed - busts! That seems to be the only way I'm moving fabric these days. That's okay. Out with the old; in with the new.
