2010 is off to a good start because I sewed! When the quilt I'm working on is finished, hopefully today, then I'm tackling backings and borders. I made a plan and I'm sticking with it.
Summer Breeze from the book "Scrap-Basket Surprises" by Kim Brackett. I really like this book, and have marked three or four quilts I'd like to make. All quilts are jelly roll friendly. It will be my first finish for the new year, although yardage was counted in 2009.
Packaged up some yardage to send along to a friend, 22 yards. Hey, a bust is a bust! No purchases this week. I'm determined to end this year with a positive number! I know myself well enough to know I'll buy fabric this year. In fact, reviewing my reserve list at The Fat Quarter Shop, March will be brutal. The only solution is to sew faster!
Check out Judy's blog to see how other stash busters are doing.
And on a doggy note, here's Penny and Skippy on New Year's Day. They were all tuckered out from playing so hard!
Year-to-Date Totals:
Busted: 22 yards
Purchased: 0 yards
Net YTD: 22 yards

What a pretty quilt! I needed that Summer Breeze today, with snow still falling at my house. :( Your puppy dogs are adorable! Happy New Year!
Very pretty! I just bought that book in November and I agree, there are a number of great quilts in the book.
That book has become a favorite - I love every quilt. And, Kim's a sweetie, too. :-)
Your quilt is going to be beautiful - I'm sooooo glad you're sewing.
((HUGS))
The Fat Quarter Shop is my weak spot, too, lol.
I like your solution...just sew faster!
I'm peddlin' as fast as I can!
it feels SO weird to see your totals SO low.
tehehe.
i am loving your summer breeze quilt already.
& yayyy for blessing someone with 22 yards of stash.
:)
have to put that book on my list of books to get in Feb when i go to the quilt show. your new quilt is so pretty! Isn't it odd how we make Summer quilts in Winter, just to bring the remembrance of warm weather a bit closer.
congrats on a very nice bust!
I really like that quilt!!! The colors are beautiful!
LOL I did want to tease you and say at least one of your stashreports is in the green, but I will say good for you and the quilt looks great. Don't know the book, but this quilt looks like it was a good buy. LOL and you can always send some stash here ;-)
It's so nice to see a blog update and that someone has time to sew! Things seem to be so slow in blogland, although I've not had an update in several days myself. I'm so looking forward to a regular week.
That book is new to me, I must check it out. Your quilt top is lovely.
I couldn't agree more, I too need to sew faster, sew faster.....
Good way to start the year the way you hope to end it. Those pups are so cute together, maybe Penny needs a friend for when you're at work?
I'll have to check out the book. I really want to get my stash under control, but I'm just not the kind to go through and tally it up before I start, too much math lol
I like this quilt...very pretty. Great start to a productive year of stashbusting. Happy New Year!
I love your Summer Breeze quilt, just my style. Is the fabric by chance 3 Sisters, maybe Simplicity? I'm sure the person who is getting the 22 yards of fabric is going to be thrilled.
Just found the book at amazon and did have a look in it and there are beauties of quilts in it. Am curious which other ones you will be making out of this book.
Love the quilt you are making and lovely fabrics you used (O:
I love the Summer Breeze quilt. It's so fresh and cleen looking. What fabric did you use? I'm for sure going to look for the book.
Way to go girl! Yes, a bust is a bust, regardless of how it's leaving the house. Did you forewarn Kimberly about your plan?
Glad to see you're sewing again.
Since a couple of you asked, the fabric is Somerset Cottage by Robyn Pandolph, RJR Fabrics.
WOO HOO!!! You are doing great!!! I have that book, too, and was planning a couple of scrap quilts from it. Great minds think alike! :)
Positive numbers. You're doing great! Love the quilt you're working on. We'll worry about March when it gets here . . or maybe we won't worry about it at all! :)
yay for starting it out on a postive note!! i'm rooting for you!
That is one beautiful quilt! I'm rooting for you to bust stash this year.
An awesome start. Will look forward to seeing what you have coming in March. Is Rural Jardin one of them?
I arrived here from a link on Jaybird's blog, and was thrilled to see your Summer Breeze quilt made from the pattern in my book! I love the fabrics you used. Thanks so much for sharing the picture.
Happy New Year!
Kim
