Stash Report 2010 - Week 3

Subtitled: "I Survived Road to California Quilt Show"

I did. I survived without tanking my stash report too badly. Truly, this is a first!

A box from the Fat Quarter Shop arrived this week with Bar Harbor, a tower and a layer cake. Of course, the yardage hasn't hit yet, but I have a plan so it won't be too bad. Purchased 10.375 yards.

Now off Saturday morning bright and early to Road. I picked up some patterns, varigated embroidery floss and some Pigma pens. There's one more pattern that's being shipped to me. The fabric for every pattern here will be pulled from stash. I put a few back because I didn't have the right fabrics. I felt so righteous! :)

Then I headed over to Stars & Scraps' booth. They always have the cutest things. Honestly, I could have gotten one of everything, but I settled for "February Favorites." This is an American Jane pattern that was done up in Civil War fabrics. It was way too cute to pass up, and only 5.5 yards.

Oh, yeah, the quilts. Lots of pretty ones, but most of them didn't really appeal to me. I didn't take any pictures, but I'm sure that once the show is over, they'll be up on the www.road2ca.com website. Was looking for inspiration but came away a little disappointed in that regard.

That's it! It felt good to walk out of there with everything in one bag. Of course, *someone* - and I'm not saying who - purchased A LOT of fabric. I can't wait to see THAT stash report!!

Year-to-Date Totals:

Busted: 22 yards
Purchased: 15.875 yards
Net YTD: 6.125 yards busted

Great job on controlling your fabric purchases! I'm usually only successful at that if I don't go anywhere that I can be tempted. I am so NOT a good window shopper! LOL

Wow, you did so well but you did come away with some fabulous goodies. Some day I'm going to "Road". Sigh!

You did a great job staying inside your budget! I've always wanted that American Jane pattern. Maybe next Saturday I'll go down to S&S and see if they have it in their shop. I am sticking to my original plan of not going to the show this year. Considering I could go in my sewing room and pick out all the stuff I got from last year's show that hasn't been touched...It's killing me though!

I'm guessing that Julie has more fabric than clothing to bring back!

Looks like you had fun! And you're still on the positive "busting" side of stashbusting this year :) Keep it up :)

I still have an itch to drive down there today but I am trying to stay away. I still haven't used last years items. LOL

Love all the patterns you chose!

Good girl lol. That is some serious restraint I'm sure. My problem will be when le Jardin hits I think.

I am so proud of you!!! You rock!

I know what you mean by nothing/not much appealed to you. That's how I felt last year. But it definitely helped me keep my stash down.

We are doing great!

Doesn't it feel good when you come away with goodies but still didn't let yourself down! Good for you exercising that self control button. Nothing wrong with feeling a bit self righteous! Uhm...just be kind on me NEXT week after I try to use MY self control button!

Good job! I know that was hard. Lucky you. I would love to attend. I hear it is a fabulous show. We are fairly limited in our shows in the central US. Windshield time!

Amazing stash report considering all the temptation you faced. Love everything you bought and really, I'm proud of you!

I went to the Road to California show too! My first time, AND I bought that star pattern, and a few more things that I mailed back so that I didn't have to pay for an extra bag on the flight home!

You got some lovely things!

wow, you did well. I too, stay away from those places because a little here and a little bit there and all of a sudden its overwhelming the amount of work you can purchase in a day! I just got the Winter Sampler stitchery too. What variegated thread did you purchase?

yep Julie bought a lot! But she seems to have a use for most of it. I think there was planning in the purchases.

You did well though! Your conviction to use stash is very inspiring. So many of my new pattern designs this year are utilizing at least some of my stash. I am not ready to be as committed as you are, but I am trying!

BTW- I found your blog through julie!

Love your quilt and purchases--such restraint! I completely forgot about the Road to CA show this year, then came down with a flu bug so couldn't go anyway (3 hr drive for me). Love the American Jane pattern and fabrics. I'll be going to the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach in July again, though, it has become a must do.
