A Year Ago This Week

My emotions are in a turmoil this week. It's no wonder.

The anniversary of my dad's death is this week. It's been so many years, 37, but seems like yesterday. Daisy died this week last year. Her birthday would have been this week.

And Penny came home to live with me this week last year.

We've been bonding here lately. I feed her, take care of her, and she helps me do embroidery. A fair trade, I think.

And her new thing - she absolutely refuses to look at me when I have the camera in my hands! Yep, terrible twos!

Vicky, I've been thinking about you this week and wondering how you were doing. It's understandably a rough week for you. When you lost Daisy last year I was heartbroken for you and the dates of both her birthday and her passing had significance for me as well. I had also lost a beloved pet, a cat, on May 9th in 2005, and Tyrone, the cat that ended up replacing her, was born on May 14, 2005 so they each shared a date with Daisy. I'm so glad that you were able to get Penny to help fill the void left by Daisy. Big hugs to you. Laura

The anniversary of our loved one's passing is so hard no matter how many years have gone by. I also know how much you loved and miss , Daisy.

It's hard to believe that Penny, is a year old. She is so cute even when she refuses to look at the camera.

Sending some prayers your way.

Vicky...my thoughts are with you! I can't even image what you are going through losing your Dad...time doesn't heal that wound no matter how long. Big Hugs!!! I think Daisy is the reason I found you in blogland. I had lost my Daisy too...she was a little mutt who stole my heart. I was super depressed and my husband and mother begged me to get another dog within three weeks of losing Daisy. I found Gidget and was new to the whole blog thing and I saw your Daisy's avatar and clicked on your blog. Your blog was the connection I needed at the time. You had a Daisy who was a Doxie and I had a Daisy and had just adopted a Doxie. I have to say...little Penny is cracking me up in this photo...not looking at the camera. Have you tried giving her treats before taking a photo? I do it with Gidget and she somewhat cooperates. The other thing I used to do is make a high pitched noise and Gidget would look at me like I was loosing my mind...but at least she looked at the camera. Take care friend!!

Just wait until she's a crazy three and will only make silly faces at the camera :)

Losing a pet is very difficult. I had to put our cat to sleep yesterday...first time I had to be the person making that hard decision. Glad you have a sweet dog in your life again.

Sending lots of hugs your way!

She's a cutie!

At least she's not doing the late childhood/early teenage boy grimace. We have lot's of pictures with that type of smile. :-)

Vicky, You've had a hard week, huh? I hope you find time for relaxing and doing something fun this weekend. I'm glad I got to meet sweet Daisy and I'm happy Penny is in your life now.

Bailey (who often does the same thing as Penny when I point a camera at him. . . I think it was the flash. . .) says to take the quilt named after him & wrap it all around you - so that he (& me too!) can give you a big (((hug))) !
