The day after the last birthday I'm ever going to have, that is!
Yep, I'm stopping at 59! I refuse to be 60. So I'm just going to celebrate 59 from here on out!
I had such fun. Jane, her sweet DH and Skippy all came over and we had a feast. Grilled two huge beef tenderloins, some great chicken and apple sausage, and also Italian chicken sausage. A ton of other fixings, a good bottle of vino, and lots of laughter. The pups played until they were just totally pooped.
And birthday cake! No gourmet cakes for us! Jane and I have this thing about white cake with buttercream icing from the market. We call it wedding cake! Her DH just rolls his eyes! Anyway, the more icing, the better. We figure only on birthdays can we seek sugar highs like this! It was so delish that I had a piece for breakfast! Ssshhh....
The most wonderful gifts made their way to my house - DVDs, books, a gorgeous stitchery kit, dishtowels, beautiful soft butter scotch colored pearls, some textile bobbins.
And these gorgeous Bunny Hill pink roses from my boss and his wife! Sorry about the bad picture, but my camera died before I could get a good shot. There are twigs wound around down in the vase. The smell is heavenly!
Gosh, everyone knows exactly what I like. But the absolute best was all the phone calls and emails with birthday wishes. Okay, so I cried a couple of times. I'm really such a softy!
Thank you to everyone for helping me celebrate in style the last birthday ever!

happy happy birthday. Yup I know how you feel I don't want to celebrate them anymore either!
but just think your getting closer to be able to retire, then you can stop counting
I can't wait you will be making so many quilts then and moving back home right?

I'm so glad it was a wonderful day! That's my favorite cake too...I'd always pick Publix marble cake with buttercream frosting...and for breakfast...PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday! I've been reading your blog with interest for ages now, so I thought I would de-lurk ... I was 40 last week and I should have used your trick and stayed 39 for ever!
just think of the next few years as the 'count down' stage to what you've always wanted to do...eat, sleep, and quilt!
(but really, birthdays couldn't happen to a nicer person than you. hope you have loads more)
Happy Birthday!! Isn't it fun to be appreciated!! Great stuff! Tks for sharing. Yvonne

Birthdays are fantastic, the alternative isn't! Looks like you have surrounded yourself with great friends and had a wonderful celebration! Happy bday.
I'm with ya on this one. In a few weeks I'll be...oh no...61! But I just pretend I haven't hit that big mielstone yet!
Oh my goodness. I had no idea that we are almost the exact same age....I am a day older and therefore I must be wiser. (My family might contest that statement.)Enjoy that cake and the flower are so pretty. I am glad you got to celebrate with such good company.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Loved your cake....yes buttercream is the only way to go!!! If I'm gonna put away the calories...it's gonna be worth it. I love a true sugar rush now and again!! Birthday wishes and kisses from Gidget!!
Happy B-Day from Limo!
