Quiet on the Western Front

This new year is shaping up to be quiet and, frankly, boring. Yes, last year I was wanting boring - and I have it.

I've been taking a few stitches every night on a binding. I have three more lined up after this one so I'll be doing this for a while. That's okay, though. At least I'm making forward movement.

And I've been playing with the iPad that someone suggested I really needed. It's nice. It's portable. I like having it upstairs with me at night. I've been looking around for apps and it's overwhelming. Just trying to find a nice cookbook app totally blew me away. I gave up on quilting apps; too many to sort through. Same with decorating and organizing. Maybe you all could recommend some of your favorites.

Just don't go suggesting I need any more "i" things until I figure this one out!!

And while you're at that someone's site above, did you notice the new project ... I'm in, I think. Positive I can find something around here that will work!

How many of you took advantage of that fabulous sale that the Fat Quarter Shop had going on at the end of the year? I didn't .... can you believe that? I was too busy sewing up a storm with friends. I did place a small order at some point over the holidays. At least I think it was small. Yep, I'm positive it was.

The 2012 Designer Mystery quilt looks awesome! I love Camille's bright colors. I already have in mind someone for whom I know this will make the perfect gift!

Love that I'm thinking about quilting again. It's been a long dry spell!

Wonderful to see you quilting again. :) I'm thinking there might be a few dreden plates in my future. I'm waiting for the second generation of the Kindle Fire.

I took advantage of the Fat Quarter Shop's sale...and I bought a FQ tower of Camille and Bonnie's Ruby fabric for an applique block of the month that I'm doing with a friend. I also bought the backing fabric for it. I'm looking forward to a much more productive new year...I hardly accomplished anything in 2011. Have fun with the iPad!

Apps? Now there's something I can talk about...

I'd recommend:
Martha Stewart Cookies
Block Fab
Block Tool
Infinite Variety Quilt Fab
Quilt Ref
Quilt Shops

I have dozens of other apps that I would recommend but since they weren't food/quilt/decorating related I didn't list them.

Have fun with your new iPad!

Thanks, Monica! I'll check those out tonight! Feel free to recommend anything to this hapless wanderer in ApLand!

Oh oh, I think I'm in trouble. I really don't need another project, but I LOVE Dresden Plates, and have been wanting to make another one for a while now. Thanks for the heads up on the quilt along, I think.

So, how did you get out of your dry spell funk? I've been in one of those down in the dumps moods for about a month now. Don't know if it's because it's winter, not as much light, my sewing room is a mess and I can't face the clutter, or what my problem is. In the 12 years I've been quilting, it's never been this bad. I've barely stepped foot in that room in the last month.

I love the pretty colors on the quilt you're binding. I was in a sewing slump until I got my new Bernina, now I am sewing with the big girls! LOL I love that new Mystery BOM but I swore only one a year an I already signed up for my one.

Oh I knew you would love an ipad...as for apps well I hope you did Angry birds.. a total no brainer but the puzzle aspects of how to play each screen are relaxing in a game sort of way. I did hit a few end of year online sales too and I can't resist the new block of the month I love Camille and Bonnie's fabric, so traditional as well as modern at the same time. And i am trying to resist the Dresden plates...but it may be hopeless. So glad you've got a little more time to call your own again.

Vicky ~ So glad that you are quilting again ~ you do so inspire me! I love, love, love the pretty quilt that you binding. "Dresdens" are going to be great fun!! After recent shopping spree at FGS shop I need to get back on fabric diet & will probably use 30's repos from my "own little fabric store!"
But........... the FGS Mystery BOM w/Bonnie & Camille Vintage Collection is such temptation!! Penny

You motivated me to get the binding on an old quilt of mine...in fact, you worked on this one, too. So...I now have my first finish for the year 2012. Thanks for the motivation.

I didn't read all the comments but I love the paprika app for cooking. I run my battery on the ipad down just about every day. Love it!
