Slowly But Surely

Progress is being made on Lisa's quilt. I've got almost all of these blocks made, but I won't have time this week to sew much on them. Closing out the quarter at work is a major undertaking. I might even have to work this weekend if we can't get the majority of the work done this week. I'm going to work late Thurs. and Friday nights, so maybe I won't have to. :(

The blues are really not quite as bright as they're showing up in the pictures. Lisa has always loved strawberries. When she graduated from high school, she chose her china and asked for pieces of it for graduation. It was a strawberry pattern, Lenox, I think. Anyway, when I was a new quilter about five years ago, I ran across this fabric and bought it. It's been sitting in the stash just waiting for me to make her quilt. Judy inspired me, so it'll finally get under the Christmas tree this year. I'm using four different reds, but all real close, just to give it a little variety, 9" blocks.

It didn't seen quite so hot today. I don't think quite reach 100. A regular cold snap! LOL!

The long four-day weekend was nice but I didn't get through the list of all I wanted to accomplish. I did get a lot of rest, though, and that was the most important thing. Still fighting the allergies, too. It felt so good just to be home. Daisy and I have "bonded"!

I love the fabrics you picked for Lisa's quilt! How special that you could find such lovely strawberry fabric to feature on this quilt given that the recipient likes strawberries!

beautiful fabric... :)

How big are the blocks going to be? In the picture you can't tell the scale.

Great Fabric! Looks like summertime.Remember the strawberry kool-aid your Mom used to make?? That's what it reminds me of. Have fun with the quilt. Keep us posted.

Sometimes it doesn't help to have the extra time off when work you NEED to get done isn't being done in the meantime---now you may have overtime to make up for it. Too bad when you have sewing you would like to work on.

Going to be a gorgeous quilt.

I love those fabrics Vicky and I'm sure Lisa will appreciate the fact that you chose to use fabric with something she loves on it.

Glad you had a good rest and I sincerely hope that today and tomorrows work isn't too tiring for you.

I know now what your blocks remind me of!! I've been looking at it all day--July 6th block on the 365 Quilt blocks a year perpetual calendar that sits atop my computer. Union Square! They give directions for a 12 inch block there--yours may be a different size.

Lisa's quilt is going to be fantastic! She is going to love it forever! Wonderful colors and love that strawberry fabric!

Cool that got to bond with Daisy. My Lab P.D. doesn't normally bond, but she's a little freaked out by the firecrackers the past few days so has been real quiet and bonding big time! I feel so sorry for her, but am happy to do some snuggling with her.

Great color combo! Some folks are so good at that, I am not. I think that's why I like scrappy, because I SUCK at color coordination!!
