Some Progress on UFOs
Just picked these two up from the quilter. They're both small so the binding should go on quickly, but it's just too hot to think about sitting under a quilt right now.
It was so hot yesterday. How hot was it? I know there's a joke in there somewhere, but my brain is fried and I can't think of it. I came home to a nice cool house, and immediately got the chills. So I went to bed at 8:00 and shivered for an hour until I fell asleep. Then woke up at 10:30 sweating. I hope this allergy/infection thing isn't getting worse.
I had a huge snaffu trying to get flowers to Louisiana. I ordered from the FTD online service early Monday morning. Yesterday morning right before I left for work, I received an email that my order was not able to be delivered. No explanations. Period. Some frantic phone calls and I was able to finally get to a florist next door to the funeral home, and they walked something over just before the service. I called my credit card company and put a "stop pay" on the FTD charge just in case it came through. Real irritating. Friends told me to use flowers.com next time, but I think I'll go back to my old way of doing things - by telephone directly to the florist in whatever town.
Sally gave me a lot of food for thought this week. One thing she mentioned was this that she read: "Reduce your GPH and increase your TPH. GPH is 'Gripes Per Hour'… TPH is 'Thanks Per Hour'." I'm going to practice that this week and see if I can't get back within the speed limit of life!

Ooooohhhh Vicky, those two quilts are beautiful.
The quilts look wonderful, Vicky.
I can't stand holding the quilts on my lap much in the summer. As I work on binding, as I have been doing for several days now, I have the bulk of the quilt away from my body on piled up on my desk in front of the computer. The pull out thing that I suppose they used for a typewriter at one time helps extend the work area as does my sewing table pulled up right next to that. I know a lot of people hold the quilts in their lap as they work and some even sew left to right.
Your quilts look wonderful. I especially like the bright one with the circles - my kind of quilt. It really shows off those happy fabrics.
Great quilts Vicky! And thanks for the update on Judy...such a sad and tragic time for her family.
Hugs
Laurie
Both quilts are just beautifull
Lovely quilts :-)
The quilts are beautiful. I know what you mean about it being too hot to have a quilt sitting on you while you bind it.
Sure hope whatever "bug" you have doesn't keep you down for long.
Progress on UFos is something to be celebrated! The binding too will come with time, but regardless of when you got further than you'd been before! Congreats :-)
They both look great. I want to do a circle quilt one of these days. I've been debating whether I could raw edge applique them on the longarm but my practice ones didn't look so good so I'm back to just dreaming about them.
Are those 2 quilts made by the same quilter? - grin! You sure do like to experiment with different styles! Good job for making progress on UFO's. Whenever I don't want to work on a UFO I stop and think about how much time and fabric and effort I already have invested - and I did like it when I started out, so worth finishing!
Cheers!
Evelyn
UFO's that close to finished?? totally awesome! It's such a good feeling to have some of those things put to rest, so to speak.
Hugs for feeling better soon, Finn
Both your quilts are so pretty - and such different styles! I like the colored ones. Reminds me of ice cream. Lots of different flavors. Think cool thoughts while you finish them.
Love the quilts! The inner border on the polka dots is great - I think some of it lives in my stash... :o) GREAT background, too. Now I know what to do with the gray that I bought for a swap that sizzled out....
Love the TPH reminder!
Those are gorgeous! I tried to quilt once. Took a class and kind of clashed with the teach. I made one square and called it a doily. Yours are unbelievable. I'm going to have to keep an eye on your blog! Lovely.
