Two Sides Done

Sorry to keep posting this quilt, but it's all I've been working on for the past month! Just the two shorter sides to go. Push or shove, I'm going to get one of them done today! Once it's altogether I'll get a better picture. Right now I've got "stuff" in the living room which prevents me from laying it out and getting a straight-on shot.

I'm really loving this quilt, but I have to admit I'm getting a little tired of it. Does that happen to anyone else?

Jane and I were talking yesterday about our cache of quilting books. I told her that often I flip through them once or twice and then on the shelf they go. Well, here's my new challenge to myself. Before the year is out, I'm going to go through some of the first quilt books I bought and pick out a quilt and make it -- totally from my stash. This will give me the opportunity to go through my books and, knowing me, I'll fall in love with most of the quilts in them all over again! It may be a quickie pieced quilt; it may be an appliqued one. I don't know at this point. I just know that it's a shame to have such wonderful books up there on the bookshelves and not utilize them!

That's a good thing to do! I love looking through all my quilt books and can always find something I want to make. Sounds like a great way to get reacquainted with your books and use some stash too.

That quilt is beautiful - you keep showing it to us. It's a ton of work! :-)

I've been sorting through old patterns and books and reminding myself of those that I just couldn't wait to do but never did. Like Butterfly Flip for instance. It's actually been alot of fun!

what a great idea for going through old books... And yes, oh yes... no matter how much I love a quilt there is always a time when I've had enough of it. Unfortunately its always before its completely done! Keep pushing, you'll finish it up and love it! :-)

Your quilt is just beautiful. That border is so much work. You can show it over and over again...it's spectacular.

Of course! I never thought I would finish my last top! I put sticky markers on my books for the page patterns I'd like to try, but I do sit every so often and just go through them afterwards and re-read them!

What a great idea!! When I have some time(haha)I just might do that.
Please don't stop showing that quilt! It is absolutely beautiful, and what an accomplishment.

About once a week I will pull a quilt book off the shelf and look through it before I go to bed. That way I'm always being stimulated, sometimes too much.

I do like the quilt you are working on. I frequently get tired of working on a project, especially if it takes me longer than two or so weekends to do. For now I've decided to cut back on making large quilts and to stick to smaller projects. I need to feel a sense of accomplishment in my quilting and not a sense of "I can't seem to finish anything I start."

Your quilt is looking really nice but I can see why you're getting bored with it. You already know what it's going to look like so you're raring to move on to something else. But you still have lots of fiddly work to do on the borders. At least that's where I usually get bored with a project. :-) But stick to it and you're going to have a great quilt very soon. THEN you can start something else. Like one of the stash quilts you're going to make from your book collection. Which I think is a GREAT idea and maybe one I need to try.

That's good thinking, Vicky! Do you see another challenge for bloggerland on the way come January?

Aaaah, my books are full of post-its marking quilts I wanted to make and never did. Yes, let's work this idea into a challenge!

The quilt is gorgeous. I love the border. I recently went through all my books and magazines and made a list of all the quilts I wanted to make, I found that going back through them there were quilts that appealed to me now that I hadn't liked, or felt confident enough to tackle before. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your stash quilts.

Ooohh, soooo close - keep at it! The top is really wonderful! Yup, always get bored with my quilt tops - especially toward the end. But, I finish them anyway and then send them off to be quilted. By the time I get them back from the quilter, I fall in love with the top - now a quilt - all over again! Absense makes the heart grow fonder, as my Nana used to say!

Cheers!

YES! (Hence, my previous comment about listening to my quilts.)

Ditto on the books too! What a great idea. (I should stick with trying to finish things that I have already started.)

I have had the same idea about my quilting books too-sounds like many of us are all on the same page :-) this quilt is really coming along-I know how tedious putting on the last borders can be-good for you to stick with it!

Your quilt brings a big smile when I see it. Another one to add to my list of "Quilts I want to make".
