Scary Times and Snow

Well, that's a jumbled up title, but it's about how I'm feeling right now.

At 9:00 last night their time, my brother was taken into emergency surgery because the bleeding was still continuing. They removed 4' of colon and was able to hook everything back together so that his body will work properly. He was given six more pints of blood during surgery, but Gail just called me and said he didn't need any more during the night. She hasn't seen him yet this morning, but the ICU nurse coming off duty told her that he had a good night, no more bleeding, but is really wanting the ventilator tube out. He'll be in ICU for a couple of more days. His cardiologist is due in this morning because his blood pressure got real low during surgery, and they're monitoring that closely. I feel much relief today, but I know he's got a long recovery ahead of him.

This picture was taken yesterday morning through the windshield as I pulled out to head to work. Finally a little snow on the first layer of mountains. When I got to work, I had a better view of the mountain range, and could see real white mountains behind these. It was beautiful. I'm a real wannabee snow bunny. LOL

The second picture is Scooter, my boss' new lab puppy. He's nine weeks old, and a real charmer. We had him on the front lawn of the office yesterday so I could get some pix of him. Unfortunately, the only time he stood still was when he was 'taking care of business.' Then he decided to roll around in the grass, so he's covered with stuff. He's looks so much bigger than just a week ago. I guess the next time I see him, he'll weigh 60 lbs.

Today is haircut, manicure, and then some serious housecleaning. Ironing and cutting fabric are also on the agenda for the weekend. The Catholic guilt thing is starting to set in over that giterdun quilt. :)

I'm glad to hear that your brother went thru the surgery successfully, and that he didn't need any more blood during the night. It is really scary when things happen like that and no one seems to be able to pinpoint the problem. I'm relieved for you. :) That pup is adorable! :D

Prayers are continuing your brother, his wife and for you. The view you have is beautiful...I always wanted to live someplace with a view. Hasn't happened yet here in flat New Jersey! :o)

Sending good thoughts and wishes for your brother's recovery. It will be a distraction from your concerns to devote some time to yourself and your home today.

Vicky, I'm so glad to hear that Don came out of surgery in good shape. Recovery might take a bit but I'm sure he'll feel much better! Keeping him and you and my thoughts and especially prayers.

Oh, you suffer with the Catholic guilt thing, too. Have a good Saturday - relax!

Cheers!

How scary about your brother. So glad he made it through surgery OK and seems to be doing well. I can imagine how hard it must be for you being so far away. Sending postitive healing thoughts his way. They've had a rough time of it these last couple years.

So sorry your brother is having problems - isn't he the one who just had the house fire too? Hope he is on his way to recovering.

I hope that your brother continues to regain his strength each day and will be out of ICU soon. Your SIL will be able stay with him longer and time will pass more quickly for her instead of waiting for the visiting times to pop up.

Gorgeous view of the mountains.
