Making Slow Progress

Moving slowly along on the pieced borders. One side is done, working on side two. I'm anxious to get the focus fabric back on the outside border to tie it altogether.

I showered this morning and didn't blow my hair dry. I'd forgotten how many curls I have. Of course, they're sticking out every which way. I swear Daisy did a double-take at me a little while ago! LOL!

Just grilled a steak and it was good. I was going to do that last night, but opted for breakfast food instead. I'm enjoying the grill. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. Next weekend I need to clean up the patio, sweep up the leaves, and put a couple of chairs out there. When it's cooler, I sit out there and applique. There's too much dust and pollen in the air now. I started sneezing every time I went out to check on the steak.

Tomorrow is going to be a tough day at work, so I need to hit the hay earlier tonight. I hope I can sleep. I quilted in my sleep the last two nights, and actually got up once last night and wandered into the stash room looking for a fabric. I must have dreamed about it because it was sure important to find it. :)

Lately I've been counting days/weeks/months until the next long weekend. For me that will be 9/27 when I go home. 23 days! Then the next time off for me will be Alex's retreat in mid November, another four day weekend. I must be getting old because I never used to look forward to days off so much. Or maybe I'm just worn out.

Not much to blog about tonight - subject hopping.

Doesn't it feel great to just talk about whatever is on your mind! Your quilt is beautiful. I dream about quilting all day long at work, on the long drive home, in the evening...ok...well, all the time! It helps me keep my sanity!

Vicky - been up at 4am..ridiculous-being retired over a year. Read the paper, make coffee, check out sites on the internet. Decided I need to go purchase border fabric for this wild baby quilt.

Wish I could sleep daily until 6:30 or 7...but do enjoy my quiet morning time before dh gets up.

That quilt and border are wonderful. Still think you could enter it, if you get it quilted on time. Would be great to see it at Road in Jan.!

Love you girl, take care. Glad you and Jane had fun this weekend!

xoxoxo,

Marilyn

Hi Vicky, isn't it funny how much harder it is to do things like grilling for one? But so great when we do, "just do it"?

Good for you...all great signs of being settled in and enjoying YOUR life now. Alot of +'s in single living I find!
I get the best piece of everything..LOL not the last piece..*G*

The first border looks great! Hard, but great!
I'm really excited for your trip. It will be wonderful!! Hugs, Finn

Vicky your quilt is just beautiful. Do you have a pattern for this or is it a design you made yourself?

Slow going? I don't think so - that border looks very intricate and tricky!!! It looks great!!!

I often cook for myself and one of my favorite gadgets is a small electric grill... actually I have 2 of them in case I want to grill veggies the same time as meat! My DH just rolls his eyes and shakes his head! I use them all the time.

Cheers!

The border is wonderful. It looks so complicated, but looking closely at the picture, I can see how you did it. Clever, clever girl. It would take me a longer to piece than the top!!

I love your pieced border. A pieced border is next on my list quilt techniques to learn.

I dream about quilting all the time too. I can't begin to count the number of projects I have finished in my sleep. If only the number was real in my real life.

I really love that quilt! What a labor of love.
I know what you mean about looking forward to long weekends, etc. I think part of why you're doing this is because you've had to take on another person's job until the slot is filled. You've also had a lot happen in your family lately. Sit down, relax and have a glass of wine. Remember-23 days, and it's paid for!

Thanks for the chuckle - loved the idea of you walking into your sewing room looking for fabric in your sleep!

that pieced border is beautiful, but looks like it'd be slow going. I've only begun to venture into the land of pieced borders, and must say I like the effect they provide.

I remember when Judy was trying to figure out whether to use that border or not. Your version is coming out very nice.
