Shop Sample for Ginger's

One of those panels .... I never have understood those things, but that's just me. :) Anyway, it wasn't moving in the shop, so I volunteered to make up something for them. This one is Serendipity by Sandy Gervais for Moda. Yep, I actually volunteered to make something purple. Yikes!

Judy came up with two great ideas for the panel, but I was limited with what I could do because they didn't have the other fabrics needed for those. So, Judy, if you don't mind, I'm going to save those great designs of yours for the next time -- because I know me well enough to know I'll probably volunteer again for something! :(

I decided to keep it real simple, something that could be sewn in a couple of hours. And it would have - except I did something real stupid. Real stupid. I was squaring up the last panel block, and managed to cut through the others that I had already squared up. So I had to go beg another panel from them. I was embarassed that they wouldn't let me pay for it. Real embarassed. Geez, you can't take me anywhere. Wrote up simple instructions for them, and that's done and out of here.

The washing machine ran most of the afternoon yesterday, and there's more to wash today as I fell asleep with the last load in the dryer and it's hopelessly wrinkled. Back into the washer! My online group has tagged the double Irish chain as the "blasted" quilt, and 1st weekends dedicated to working on "blasted" projects. I'm determined to get it all cut out today - no more procrastinating - and get it all sewn together and off to Judy to quilt by the end of February. I'm looking to my blogger friends to hold me accountable on that!

Woke up with the headache pounding again. I just realized that I hardly ate anything yesterday, so I need to stop by the market and stock up on real food. Might make a pot of chili today. While I'm cutting. :)

Well, it looks "simply" good - should help them sell the inventory of panels. :-) Ya done good!

HMMM, the "blasted" irish chain quilt - perfect! You need to get it done so you can blast it out of your life! teehee

Once you get that done you can start working on something for ME! :-p

I like your purple panel-simply wonderful....I do love purple, so if you are really traumitized by it...LOL

Have you started the pumpkin applique yet? I haven't, but hope to spend a day doing backgrounds, and ironing on the applique so that I can do blanket stitches in the evenings watchng TV with DH.

I think the panels look good, should help them move. DD loves purple, I can take it or leave it.
I've done a couple of Irish chains and I don't like them. I like quilting them for others, but not the piecing.

Vicky, you can use my drawings for whatever you'd like . . whenever you'd like. I love what you did with that panel.

I can't tell you how many times I've folded things over and cut through and ruined something. That's why I would never trim a customer's quilt.

Nice job! (I am so intrigued to see only 8 "blocks" I so could not see how to use 8 blocks before... Now it is like, oh yeah, just add alternating setting squares!)

I don't really "get" the panels either. I'd rather do the applique myself. But it does look nice and I'm sure will inspire others to buy the panel and make a similar quilt.

So did you work on the "blasted" irish chain? Nag, nag, nag.....

I have done that too, cut thru a finished block. And it just takes a little cut to ruin everything!

Nice shop sample!
