Anonymous Said ...

On my last blog, Anonymous was back with a nasty comment. Someone emailed me and pointed it out. I'm going to go against my rule of deletion, and leave that one there for all to see this time.

Here it is to keep anyone interested from having to go search for it.

There is no way you can pay for all the fabric you get. I figure you are just a PR for Fatquarter shop. Also I never see the amount of completed projects. You must be an attention seeking Nutcase.

This one I WILL respond to. Anonymous went a little too far with this comment by attacking my friends. Sadly, I pretty much know who "anonymous" is because of some recent gossip that came my way. Sick, sick.

There is no way you can pay for all the fabric you get.

Yes, I can and do pay cash for all the fabric I get. I was not born wealthy. I don't sit at home eating bon-bons while someone else supports me. I am a very successful career person and I earn a extremely handsome income. Do I detect a little jealousy here?

I figure you are just a PR for Fatquarter shop.

Nope, don't work for them and am not associated with them in any manner except as a VERY satisfied customer. I pay the same price everyone else does there, or at any other online shop from which I order. I have become friends with the staff there over the years that I have been a customer, but have never met any of them in person. Will have to remedy that some day!

Also I never see the amount of completed projects.

Well, I'd say you haven't read my blog very thoroughly. I have been quilting since August, 2001 and have made approximately 150 quilts. I have six to eight that just need bindings right now, have two more being custom quilted, have another one going to a local quilter this weekend, and I have a stack of probably eight quilts next to my cutting table that need backings pieced. I haven't sewn much this year, I'll admit, because of Daisy being sick and losing her, then getting a new puppy, and because of an illness at work and the extra hours I'm putting in in that regard.

You must be an attention seeking Nutcase.

Attention seeking nutcase? Oh, right. THAT must be why I send secret gifts to folks without mention of who sent them. THAT must be why the majority of my charitable contributions are made without fanfare. THAT must be why I blog several times a day, day in and day out, just to draw attention to myself. Thank you for pointing that out.

Sheesh.......

Comments? Anyone? Might as well get all this over and done with now.

My apologies to The Fat Quarter Shop for being drug into this. There isn't a finer group of folks on the face of the earth.

--------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: The discussion is now closed. To my friends and fellow quilters and bloggers, thank you for your support.

Wow! People are so heartless! I have been dealing with a group of rather immature adults and it's just a shame that there are adults who just don't know how to behave. What a waste!!

You keep doing what you do! You are great!

I have also had one of these "stalkers" following my blog. I wish people wouldn't do this to us. Who are we hurting? If they don't like our blogs, stop reading them, right? Don't worry about one negative person....there are many of us out here who support you and enjoy reading your blog! Like Jillquilts said in the previous comment, "You keep doing what you do! You are great!"

Ruby said...

I have been a lurker following your blog for quite awhile and have never commented before. I cannot believe some one can be so rude and mean spirited. I hope you never give up blogging as you are such an inspiration. I am still shaking my head in disbelief!

Why even get up in the morning if this is how you spend your day.... Spewing negativism. What a sorry soul.
Love your blog and Ms Penny!

Wow! Some people have a lot of nerve. I hope you have a great day inspite of all that crap that person wrote.

That people who do this are just sick. I had this happen to me one time and also put it on my blog for everyone to see and as it was about an exchange also send it to the one receiving the exchange and the one coordinating it. Never had one anymore since them.
I am very happy for you that you can buy so much fabric, would love to be able to do it myself, only won't know where to leave it. and I have seen you finishing things for sure.

its amazing to me what people will say.
its your life, your paycheck what ever makes you happy
and yes if she really read your blog she would know you make lots of quilts, donate alot of quilts, tops ....
and send a lot of fabric to others...
keep it up!

I'm glad you enjoy what you do, and how you do it (because I enjoy you & your blog too!). Doesn't matter one whit if others approve!

"Anonymous" enjoys the publicity that they can't seem to find using their own voice.
So sad.

Anonymous said...

awwww, vicky, whoever that was just doesn't know you the way we do.
You go right ahead and get whatever fabric you want. That person just doesn't realize how many other people you are keeping employed these days, and how many people depend upon those dollars spent to earn money to feed their families.
We quilters are good people. We generously support this economy, create and sustain jobs, and create beautiful quilts which will warm the hearts and bodies of everyone they touch.
it just doesn't get much better than that.
So no matter who tries to rain on your parade, you hold your head up and keep right on creating.

Oh, for crying out loud. Whoever that is need to get his/her OWN life! Going forward, just delete the comments. You don't need to justify anything to any of us!

when i was a kid... my mom said "if you don't have anything nice to say..don't say anything at all" ... and i know i don't have the only mom who said that... but unfortunately i think common courtesy has gone out the window with a lot of people.. and it sucks.

i blog because i want to. end of story. you blog because you want to. that is all that matters!!

people like to get a rise out of others.. and instead they only motivated me to work harder at the things i'm passionate about..

lastly.. i've gotten the opportunity to meet you in person... and that isn't a common thing in blog world... and i can say from meeting you in person.. you are one of the sweetest people ever... and you had WAY more restrain at that show when it came to purchases than i did!!!!

Karen said...

Oh honey, if you are a nutcase then so are all the other quilters in this world. We all love fabric and make quilts to share with those that need them. I don't call that a nutcase, that's called compassion. How sad that a person feels a need to attack a person over a blog.
Keep on doing what you're doing! Good job!

Vicki, as I see it, this is your life, you earn your money and you are doing what makes you happy. I'm delighted that you can live the way you want, I'm envious of your stash :o), and I know that you are an honorable person. Don't let the turkeys get you down!

Sue H said...

OMG -- who would even think that, let along put it in writing on your blog! And cower behind the Anonymous label. Just know that 99.99% of us thoroughly enjoy your blog, your purchases, your completions, your humor & your puppy, and leave Anonymous behind to wallow in his/her own nastiness.

Barbara said...

Vicky,
Some people aren't happy unless they can make others unhappy. Don't let anyone do that to you. From what I've read on your blog, you are a kind and generous person, you don't need to justify your life to anyone. Continue to be who you are and ignore the comment. Have a great day.

Darlene said...

I will never understand why some people are so meanspirited. I simply don't get it. You just keep doing what you're doing and know that you (we) don't owe an explanation to anyone.

It's amazing how bold people will get under the "anonymous" setting. I just don't get people who do that on people's blogs, it blows my mind. Shoot, I don't care how you want to spend your money, why would anyone else!

Julie in the Barn said...

There are some people in the world who's parents must have been first cousins! Anonymous seems to be the result of such a coupling since her cord obviously isn't long enough for her plug to reach the socket.

You are one classy lady to so calmly reply to her mean blathering. I would have told her where to stuff her opinions. Love your blog, Vicki.

It does make one wonder what goes through people's minds, doesn't it? And let's not forget, there are people who are not balanced.

You gave excellent responses.

Anonymous said...

I agree with your response to that person. And I agree that you should just delete those types of comments in the future... and ban the IP address if you can.

I have a quilty friend that is going to shows and retreats and buys fabric while she is working since she always says she doesn't know when she may not be able to do those things in the future.

Life is short - enjoy it... and be friendly to people!

Oh for Pete's sake! What is the matter with people. I know that none of the things she said are true, but even if they were, SO WHAT!!! I still enjoy your blog and all that you do. You are a wonderful person, with a kind and generous heart! (((hugs)))

tami said...

Some people need to seriously get a life. Why do they read your blog if it bothers them so much? I agree with a lot of the other comments some, people just like to see if they can start trouble and it's so easy to do anonymously.
I would continue to delete and maybe even disallow anonymous comments just so you won't have to deal with them any more.
Keep up the good work and do whatever makes YOU happy.

Dear One,
I have been a fan of your blog for quite some time. I enjoy reading it and seeing pictures of your cute little puppy. I don't have a blog but would welcome you to visit me if I did. I would ignore the nasty comments of jealous people. You are a fortunate person to work your job and be able to buy the fabrics you enjoy. Even if it is only to touch them and gaze at them as souvenirs and then give them away if you choose so. Anonymous needs to get busy doing something else and leave you alone. Take care and enjoy YOUR fabrics to your heart's content.

Obviously this individual doesn't know you at all. Even though I live across the country from you, I consider you a true friend. I have met you in person and been a recipient of your goodness. I surmise that you "hit the nail on the head" so to speak. Someone is "small" and cannot imagine your sharing as you do. Quilterards

WOW, someone else is definatly a nutcase. Who cares? WHat concern is it of theirs?
Bah poohy on them.
I love seeing your buys, your projects and I too LOVE FQS!!

AnnieO said...

I have my blog set to disallow anonymous comments. Maybe ol' jealousypants will give up if she can't leave a nasty remark unidentified! I enjoy your blog and hope you continue to be yourself and wallow in all the fabric you can afford!

Debbie said...

I enjoy your blog. I love to see what you have been up to. Don't listen to negative people. You should be able to spend, sew, and blog as much or little as you want. Who has decided it was okay for someone to comment on your life? Keep blogging....we love it!

Yvette said...

Unbelievable!

I am so glad you responded to that comment. If I posted all the fabric and kits that I have I would have received the same.

Keep doing what you are doing! You work hard and deserve to do what you want with your hard earned money.

May Britt said...

She is just SO jealous over what you make. There is always some "trolls" out there, but as you now trolls explode when the sun shine on them. What means is that when she publish a comment like this, she is just telling everybody how stupid she is.

Just keep on quilting and blogging and do not mind such stupid comments.

Karen S. said...

How sad that some people feel they must be so mean! Jealousy is never pretty. :( You do beautiful work and are nice enough to share it with the rest of us. Please don't stop, and the pictures of your puppy - SO CUTE! Little dogs have such personalities.

Anonymous said...

Well, well...

My initial reaction to that post on your blog was a vitriolic RANT. (You know how I get when someone abuses my friends! ) Fortunately, it didn't post. When I went back to check it out I realized this:

With the exception of the term "Nutcase" -and how juvenile is that? What's next? Throwing rocks? Anyway, with the exception of that, Anonymous wasn't only attacking you but rather she was also attacking an on-line store with which she cannot compete.

Perhaps we all need to remember that while the quilting community is spread out across this country (and beyond), it's still a very small community.

Make no mistake, I'm still furious but this person is hardly worth acknowledgement or the attention she is so desperately seeking.

ILY
Jane

P.S. Feel free to post any part of this on your blog. Don't know why I can't...

Although I read your blog regularly I have never commented before other than to express my sympathy for the lost of Daisy. I must say however, that you really don't own any explanations to anyone about your spending habits, finished quilts (or lack of), etc. It is your business and since you aren't asking anyone to contribute anything to your hobby---folks need to "get a life".

Robin said...

I don't think you need to justify anything you do- if you have the means to buy what you want or do what you want then- go for it and enjoy! Obviously some people just want to cause trouble. I don't read regularly like I do a couple other blogs but I enjoy reading about the dog and seeing your lovely quilts.

I always hate it when my lovely quilting bloggers get horrible comments! You all put so much time and effort into your blogs and get NOTHING for it(except my undying gratitude!). I've heard of bloggers who have quit blogging because of mean and nasty comments and I hope that you will stay around and continue to excite us with your fabric pics(I'm not able to buy much in this economy and I like to drool over your packages!) and quilty goodness...and doggy fun, too!
Also, you mostly only blog on weekends and that is NOT NEARLY ENOUGH for the likes of me!

I will try to p[ost a comment,

Vicky, no need to defend yourself. You are one of the most giving and caring people I have ever met. You were so supportive of medical problems with my brother and mom. You sent me a top when I got my Millie. We have shopped together (and what fun that was)! I shared your grief in losing Daisy, and have been rejoicing in your bringing Penny into your life.

I enjoy every FQ or yard of fabric your bring into your life. You deserve it.

You are a true, dear friend. I will always be there for you.

ILY,

Good grief Vicky! Your fan club strikes again. If it didn't make me so angry, I'd feel sorry for this person. I'm glad you responded though I'm sorry there are people like that in the world.

Judy Laquidara said...

And to get a second anonymous comment from another obvious rocket scientist! If they don't like what you do, what you write about, what you represent, then why the heck do they keep reading your blog? BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO LIFE!! It is sad that there are so many people out there who have no passion of their own. I look forward to every stash report you post. You make me feel good! :) And, with a friend like Jane, who cares what the rest of those people think! :)
