Stash Report Week 43

I've kept up doing the stash report that Judy has hosted for the third year, and my numbers are awful. As bad as they are, though, the purchases have been more thoughtful since I've been keeping track, and not buying willy-nilly any more. That said, 142 yards were purchased this week of Wiscasset, Rouenneries and Celebration. Haven't received the last two boxes yet, but I expect those in on Monday so they're reported this week.

There are a couple of lines I have my eye on for next year, but I'm going to limit myself to one or two from each market - plus anything by Minick & Simpson as long as they keep doing the patriotic colors I adore.

While organizing fabric the past couple of weeks, a few conclusions were reached about what I have. I've decided that I've fallen out of love with the fabric by one designer so I won't be purchasing any in the future. I found that I have a very healthy stash of batiks which I rarely use any more. The Civil War stash is also healthy. No more polka dots until I use some of these up. I guess I'm heading back to my roots. I did make an exception to my hard and fast $10/yard rule to get some of Brenda Riddle's Celebration by Lecien which I linked above. A momentary dispensation.

At least *someone* I know bought more than I did this week. We'll hold hands and bust yardage together next year!

Year-to-Date Totals:

Busted: 176.25 yards
Purchased: 711.45 yards
Net YTD: <535.20> yards

Those lines are so awesome how could you resist? It's a cool idea though that you've become more selective, I've found I no longer love everything I used to love, and am wondering what to do with the stuff I just don't think I'd ever use now.

Vicky--I made major purchase too! You're not alone! And, I feel good about my purchases. I think more about them too. But I bought them anyway! gotta have stash to use it!

With all the bad news about the economy & unemployment for more than a year now, I'm so glad there is still someone out there with enough disposable income to buy all that gorgeous fabric. I just bought some batting on sale yesterday so I can finish up some of the quilts I've had tops done for for a while now. I think Pat is right too, about all of is just wanting to hibernate in our sewing rooms this winter. It looks like it will be a loooooooong winter. Actually I wouldn't mind a couple snowstorms that kept me home from work for a whole week so I could get in a sewing rhythm and just keep on goin'. :-)

Well all lines you bought are beautifull. But I am just thinking how much did she buy from which colors? Don't we get a pic? I am on a fabric diet at the moment due to some unexpected high bills, but I already have some lines for next year that I really want beginning with Martinique. And now go and sew and use some of that fabic.

Darn, I should have gotten you the Wiscasset jelly rolls that were 50%off at the quilt shop closing! I'll do better next time! ;0)
I didn't picture you as a batik girl.

You've got a plan for next year, that's a good start! I've already been thinking about next year's goals too.

Happy Sunday!

I read about Whittle's Fabric on the Golden Gate Quilts Blog. They have great deals- $3.50 a yard. I have ordered from them too and was really pleased with my service. No, I don't work for them or anything, just wanted to pass on the good deal :)

Organizing takes time and sometimes it takes a friend. I had a friend come over and she whipped my sewing space into an organized disorganized space. Now I can make sense of what is in there. All my fabric is out of bins/boxes/bags and sorted under one table. I posted a few pics on my blog to show.
