B-I-G Ruler

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a ruler/template junkie! Just when I think I've found the perfect rulers, something else comes along! I mean, it's always something!

This puppy is a 20.5" square. It's humongous! I used it to square the poppy string quilt and it worked perfectly! LOL. I don't have a lot of arm strength and my rulers will sometimes slip because I can't press down hard enough on them while I'm cutting. This ruler is big and it's heavy and it ain't going nowhere once you plunk it down! It's a neon green OmniGrip. This one worked so well that I've picked up a few other sizes. I was worried about being able to use it on green fabric, but not a problem. I highly recommend these rulers! :)

Stopped at the market on the way home just to get a couple of things. Well, $140 later I still didn't have anything to eat for supper. But I discovered that pushing that cart around made me very aware of the sore spots in my shoulder. Guess I need to baby this thing along. I could just kick myself for falling like that. I suffered for four and a half years with the shoulder, and had such tremendous relief after the replacement. I'll get back there. I just need to take it easy for a bit.

Aha!!! Picture posted!

I have a 9" and a 15" square. You can put anti slide something under - make them even better. I am a ruler junkie too :-)

Bigger than big! Maybe one that size wouldn't get lost in my quilting mess.

Sweet Vicky,

You better take care of that shoulder, young lady! Don't make me come out there and do something. Really and truly, I care about you and want you in top form, OK?

That's one WOWSER of a ruler!

Yes, like Hanne mentioned, I've had good luck with those little stick-on feet thingies to help with not slipping. But this one should be BIG ENOUGH to stay put :)

Take care with the shoulder -- can't let that prosthesis get out of whack!!!

Wow, that's a biggie! I was wondering how the OmniGrips worked. I like the idea of preventing the slippage. I'll have to try one. Hugs to Daisy!

I will be glad when that shoulder is better too. I worry about you!

Did the same thing yesterday . . went to the grocery store and spent about the same thing you did. Got home and didn't have a single thing I wanted to eat for dinner. I had bought salmon for another day but ended up grilling that and making home fries for myself last night . . I was the only one here to eat but it was good!

I've never used the neon green ruler. Why did they have to go and make it my favorite color? :)

Vicki, I've had a ruler that size for a year now. I wonder how I ever managed without it! Mine is a creative grid ruler - they were the first one to come out with this size. I use it to cut large appliqué backgrounds in addition to squaring up quilts. I wish they'd make one even bigger because I need to cut a 22" square for a 20 1/2" appliqué block background.

All my yellow Omnigrids were suffering from chipped corners, etc. so I've gradually replaced all of them with Creative Grids, which have the same no-slip backside as the green ones. They came out 2-3 years before the green Omnigrids, which is why I used them. Now I really like the clear plastic compared to the green - I guess it's what I've gotten used to.

You go easy on that shoulder - you hear? You want to be able to quilt for many years yet.

I need to find the quilt group one of those or one similiar that we can leave at the meeting place or get me a new one and take my old one there.

It looks like you could cut almost any sized square for QST setting squares with that thing.

I love, love Omni-grip rulers. I first got one when Joann's was still giving 50% off coupons. I got an 8 1/2" x 24". I loved it so much I started using it for cutting everything.

Wow, that ruler takes up the whole chair!

Hmmm, I'd have to buy a new cutting board to use it with... :D

WOW! It's definitely B-I-G. My favorite neon green Omnigrid ruler is 8 1/2" by 12 - since I love to work with fat quarters it's perfect.

Take care of that shoulder!!!!!

Ohhh, what a neat ruler. I've never seen any of these green ones in person. You are all making the large ones sound verrry useful!!

All my old yellow rulers are chipped at the corners. You are the first one I have heard to recommend the new neon green rulers. Looks like I have a good excuse now to get some.

Sorry about your shoulder. It must be hard to cut fabric, I would think. Take care.

I love my big ruler--I bought mine when I was making blocks that were 18 1/2" square--sure making squaring them up a lot easier! Mine wasn't the green one though--it was a Creative Grids one.
