Revisiting a UFO

This is the project from Alex's retreat in Nov. 2006. It is her "Shades of Autumn" pattern. Her quilt was stunning. Lots of scrappy black background and autumn colors. I don't have a lot of blacks in my stash, so I looked for and found one background that would work. Jane and I found this down at Material Possessions a few weeks before Retreat. I have two rows of HST to add after I finish assembling the body, and it's done! The quilt will be appx. 60" square. I love making leaves and houses. A fun quilt.

I tossed and turned last night until the wee hours of the morning. I should be able to sleep tonight. My mattress is only a year old, but I hate it. The pillow top has a dent where I sleep, and I tried moving to the other side last night. Didn't work! I need to shop around for another one, but how do you know you'll like it until you've tested it for a month? I'll figure it out - or might take to sleeping in the other bedroom for a while. Oops, that won't work either. I'd have to clean the stash room up to be able to get to the day bed in there :)

This is a beautiful quilt top--I especially love the addition of the blue stars--they make this quilt twinkle! I am reminded of Pat Sloan's new saying, "Feel the twinkle"!

Vicky I really like it a lot...very pretty. If you figure out a way to find the best mattress please let us all know. That is the hardest thing to do. You try them out for 5 seconds at the store, you never really get into the bed like you would at home, and then the first night you think, hmmmm my old mattress was much better than this.

Love your quilt. If you like a soft pillow like I do, make your own. I got feathers from an old down coat. If it's too soft, add more feathers. Unless you are allergic to feathers, that is. Be sure to use real ticking fabric or the feathers will get out.

What a pretty quilt! I love the leaves and houses together.

3 years ago David and I purchased a new mattress. 2 years ago we replaced it! It made my back hurt so much I ended up sleeping on the couch for most of that year. Best part is we had a friend who's newly married daughter and her husband were sleeping on an old lumpy double mattress. So we gave the old one to them and they LOVE it!

You might want to try purchasing a feather bed, it's a pad that goes on top of your current mattress. We have to refluff it frequently, but it's made the bed I HATE into one I can't get out of in the morning!

I love your leaf and house quilt!!

Love that quilt. I think the black backing really makes it look rich.

We bought a pillowtop about a month ago and I hope the same thing doesn't happen to ours. DH says he can feel a dent, but I can't tell. We rotated the mattress this past weekend. We'll see!

Lovely quilt!!! I have that pattern and keep holding onto it - just in case... someday...!

Try flipping your mattress over and rotating it every month - it might help.

Cheers!
