Happy New Year

I got home last night.  The flight seemed to never end!  I splurged and arranged for a car to pick me up.  He was waiting right there when I walked out of baggage claim.  I could get spoiled!

Slept until past 7:00 this morning.  Guess the old body needed that.  Of course, Penny is not here, so no early morning walk.  I miss her.  She'll be home tomorrow.  She'll either be real peeved at me for leaving her, or will keep going to the front door looking for those other pups she's been playing with for a week.  Either way, there will be lots of cuddle time with her.  I saved a binding to sit and stitch.  We bond while sitting on the sofa!

Since I didn't get a Christmas picture of her this year, this one will have to suffice!

She's such a funny little dog.  Tons of personality and always good for a laugh!

Today I sew because --

Whatever you do on New Year's Day, you do for the rest of the year!

I've been sitting here trying to decide what to sew on.  I think I'm going to take out "Brrrrr Park" by Minick & Simpson.  I cut it all out a year and a half ago!  It's going on my bed next Christmas.  Of course, I wanted it on my bed in 2011 AND in 2012.  This year is the year!

My only goal this year is to finish what I start!  I'll work through this one until completion.  The UFOs will be worked on during the year and will be finished.

I guess my word this year is "focus."  I'm so easily sidetracked by all the new sew-alongs, new fabric, new patterns.  That's okay.  If I start something, I can't get sidetracked by something else until that one is done!

Before I head into the sewing room to focus, I want to wish everyone a healthy, happy, and, of course, a quilty New Year!

Glad you had a safe trip home. Today I'll take a few hand stitches, applique a leaf or two and do a little machine piecing. This will cover off my bases for the year! I too, want to clean up a few lingering projects, I've made my list and pulled out the first one. Realized the ufo issue was the need for a bigger design wall..........

Focus? I like it. I could A LOT of focus in my life right now. I spent too much of last year being distracted.

Happy New Year! Love the picture of Penny on your tree. How terrible for you to spend a day at home without her. My Rusty is snug under a blanket as I'm on the coach with my laptop. Where in Louisiana did you visit? We spent a weekend in Lafayette mid-December.It was great visiting with cousins on my Dad's side. Heading to Baton Rouge next week. Dad is in a nursing home there. Need to help with some of his care. Again, Happy 2013! Like your goal for the year. My goal is to just enjoy working on whatever I feel like:)

Haha, my word last year was focus. And yet, I made something around a dozen tops that ended 2012 unquilted, and another dozen in-piecing-progress. I hope the word works better for you!

Love this post... Our pups do bring such joy to our lives. Can't wait to see the BRRR Park. You inspired we to purchase the pattern several years ago. I just haven't gotten fabrics---grays together. I'm cheering for you.

Welcome home! I hope you had a wonderful trip. I won't be sewing today, but have seen a movie and done some crocheting. I figure a crafty start is a good start!

Glad Penny will have plenty of snuggle time while you stitch. Focus was my word for 2012 and it helped--though distractions did force their way in from time to time :)

That was my word last year. When I followed it, I got things done, when I didn't, well you know what happens!! Even if my primary word changes, FOCUS will (must!) remain my core word.

In the words of Larry the Cable Guy: Get 'er done!
