A Quilt Show!!

This is one of those times when I wish I was retired and living down South!  A quilt show!!!

The Gulf States Quilt Association quilt show in Slidell, Louisiana!  (Slidell is such a cute town!)

The show will be held on March 21-22 at the Northshore Harbor Center.  It's a biennial show.  I think it should be annual!!

It's so nice to know that there will be quilt shows within striking distance from where I'm going to retire.  I get so much inspiration from seeing the work of others.

Click on the picture to see the gorgeous "Pineapple Fields Forever."  I think a pineapple quilt is in my future!

If anyone down in that neck of the woods is interested in attending, you can get more information at www.gulfstatesquilting.org

Loretta, I expect to see lots of pictures!  Have fun!  Wish I were there!

Slowly Moving Along

First, let me apologize in advance.  There's nothing more boring than posting the same quilt top week after week.

I wasted spent all day yesterday working on the first pieced border.  I didn't like the results at all, so I started over.  It's moving a lot faster now but will still take me possibly two more weekends to get the top finished.

I promise I'll find something else to blog about next weekend!

Hurrah Progress

I cut the blues and creams and put the Hurrah flags together today.

Excuse the bad picture.  I don't have overhead lights in most rooms, and lamps just don't cut it after dark for picture taking.  Also, excuse the little pink notes pinned to each block.  My little reminder notes.

Next weekend I'll get these assembled and start working on the pieced border.  I really like this pattern.

I'm sure am sore today after taking a tumble in the early morning hours.  Okay, so I shouldn't go out to the mailbox at 3:00 a.m.  Stepped on a blasted gumball on the sidewalk.  Luckily, only my right wrist is bruised but I discovered lots of sore places as the day wore on.  Man, you can't take me anywhere!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, a few people emailed me about stepping on a "gumball."  I grew up calling these gumballs, but I figured I'd best look it up.  After about the third email I started doubting myself and figured what I was calling it was a just a "Southernism."
It's the round ball with spikes pictured there.  Whew!
Hurrah HSTs
216 of them to be exact!
I had a pleasant afternoon watching movies, "Diana" and "Captain Phillips," and sewing away!
Definitely need to do this more often!
"Hurrah" and Grant Park fabric are both by Minick & Simpson.
More Celebration Winners
I've been feeling puny, so I'm late in doing this.  I hope I'm not getting the "crud" that others in the office have.  Maybe it's just a simple cold.  Let's hope so!
Anyway, two more winners have been chosen for a $25 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop.
Ann at Renegade Quilter
and
Susie at Quilt Obsessions
Since I found out the hard way that sometimes email addresses are not updated on blog links, I would ask that both of you please email me so that I have your correct email address.  Then I'll get those gift certificates ordered up for you tomorrow.
Congrats to all the winners.  And thank you to everyone who took the time to send messages and leave comments on Miss Penny's birthday celebration.  She's a special little lady to me!
We'll do this again next year, God willing and the creeks don't rise!
Celebration Time 2014 Winner
You know, I really hate give-aways because it means I have to pick ONE name out of over a hundred entries.  I read everyone's comments and followed links to your blogs and I still couldn't decide.  So I let the random picker choose a name.
The winner is Mary at Hill Country Quilter who said:
Happy birthday, Penny, and happy blog anniversary! Thank you for sponsoring this celebration giveaway!
Congrats, Mary.  Please contact me with your mailing info and I'll get your fat quarter tower of Esprit de Noel off to you.
And because so many of you left comments and I loved reading all of them, especially those that wished my little cutie patooty a happy birthday, I'm going to draw a couple of more names for gift certificates ...
... tomorrow night.
I'm totally worn out right now.  I had fasting blood work this morning before I went to the office and it seems to have thrown me off kilter all day.  How silly is that?  I guess that cup of coffee when I first come downstairs is more important than I thought!  And my neck is really hurting for some reason.  I was pulling HR files all day, and I must have been sitting in a weird position.  Guess I'm sleeping in the neck brace tonight.
Good luck tomorrow .... thanks for being patient!!
Celebration Time 2014
February 11th is Penny's fifth birthday.  I can't believe my baby is five.  Doesn't it seem like just yesterday when I brought her home?
She's decided to be a bad girl because her birthday is coming up.  Last night I got home from work and there was a 25 lb. bag of dog food spilled all over the kitchen.  I left the pantry door ajar and she must have decided she was hungry!
February 11th is also the eighth anniversary of LA Quilter!  Wow, eight years!  I hope the next eight will bring LOTS of quilting!
To celebrate the day, Penny picked out a fat quarter tower to give away.  She's awfully generous with my stash, isn't she?!!
Esprit de Noel by French General for Moda.  I'd say Penny has good taste!
All you have to do is leave a comment here to be entered in the drawing for the tower.  I'll randomly pick a name Tuesday night when I get home from work.
Please be sure that there is a way for me to contact you in your comment.
Good luck!
